Stafford Forum Facelift of September 2014 - New features in here!

Enjoying a drop of red.
Nope. @MyCult is no doubt excellent at what he does, but the growth of The Forum has been purely organic; no SEO business involved. :)
That then is the best news of all :)

Edited to add that I'm not dissing MyCult, simply glad that a decent product like the forum can still grow in popularity through a simple bit of common sense marketing like linking with Farcebook and Twatter etc. And word of mouth, rather than throwing oodles of dosh at SEO.

1 million hits!

That's equivalent to everybody in Stafford Borough checking the forum 15 times per day. More realistically if we say that there are about 2500 regular forum users (including lurkers) they would have to check the website 400 times per day to hit the million mark in a 30 day month.

Well, quite. Unless I've done my maths wrong, there are only about 43000 minutes in a whole month, so clearly 1 million hits in a month doesn't mean 1 million people are using it in that time, as we would need a hell of a lot of people to be constantly staring at The Forum to achieve that. ;)

A "hit" is just the standard metric by which a website's popularity is measured; you'll often read articles about web sites, and they will say something a bit like "xyz.com, which receives over 100,000 hits a month...". We recently smashed the 1 million mark, so I thought I'd share. :P

250,000th poster!
Ive noticed a couple of things lately....

@staffordjas posts dont appear on the 'Recent Activity' page, only on my 'Latest Alerts' page....(I dont want @staffordjas to think Im ignoring posts when Ive only looked on the Recent Activity page.)

....& the 'Like' button.......why suddenly has it started loading a new page asking 'if Im sure you want to like this post' EVERY SINGLE TIME I like something.....it only used to do it every once in a while, but now its all the time :( Am I stuck in some kind of algorithmic loop where Ive liked too many dodgy posts & now its questioning my sanity? ;)

A member will only appear under "Recent Activity" (or anywhere on The Forum, for that matter) if they want to be visible. If they have chosen to not show their online status (found in your Privacy Settings), they will not appear in "Recent Activity" (since it shows all online activity, not just posts).

This is not a feature of the forum software, and you should never get this message. It may pop up if you are on a slow connection and you click "Like" before the page has fully loaded, as the JavaScript will still be loading in. If you are confident that the page has fully loaded, yet you are still getting this message, I suspect it is related to the Opera Minified browser that you use. Try again using the stock browser and hopefully you can Like to your heart's content. :)

This 'inviting' others into a 'conversation' lark - how does that work then?

Is there a limit to how many people can be 'invited' in? I have discovered that you are limited to two 'invitees' upon starting a 'conversation' but are given an option to 'allow' others to 'invite' - can you, as the initiator of the 'conversation', then 'invite' more, or is it only an option for those that are 'invited' to then go forth and invite-y-ate? How does one do any of the things that i have just asked about?

I only ask because i am only asking.

I've never had more than threesome on here. Not sure if I've ever 'invited' anybody else to join in...

You can invite a maximum of 2 people to a personal conversation, so as @Gramaisc says a threesome is the most which The Forum will allow. I can increase this, if there is a need.
