Fairly confident i can get a car for next Monday - if the bike carrier i have fits the car i can get, it is possible that i could take two others, but i fear it is a biggish 'if'. Otherwise i have space for +1

Bottom line, @citricsquid has first dibs, anyone else interested?

Thinking drive to Birches Valley, arr. c.12pm -> Donkey -> Birches Valley -> dep. c.2pm -> home 2andabitish/3ish pm, that sort of time - dependent on all the sorts of things to which it would be dependent on? RSVP

In the bemeanwhilst, feast thine eyes upon the loveliness of this -

The carrier fits and what's more, incredibly (in fact you can have little comprehension of just quite how incredible this is), i found the thingymabobs necessary to put another bike on it.

Ergo i can transport +2 if someone else, assuming @citricsquid is in, is up for a jolly. :)

@Withnail Great news. I'm in! My bike is with Halfords at the moment, they're fitting new brakes, they said they'd be in touch today to arrange collection but I haven't heard anything yet. I'll be back in business Monday for sure.

Right...

Need to be in Cannock @11am - mercifully briefly - and should be back by about 11.30.

The three options are -
  • i come to yours and pick you up
  • you come to mine and we leave from here
  • something inbetween
- not too bothered which, but one of the latter two would probably be better in the current traffigeddon. What sayest thou @citricsquid ?

Still have a place for one more if anybody fancies it?

I can make my way to yours, what time should I arrive for and where in the world do you live -- near where we met last time? I can't promise I'll be the most active tomorrow, I only got my bike back a couple of days ago, but I'll give it a go.

Will post coordinates to thine inbox - any time between 11.30 & 12?

I have had a pretty tough day and am in bucking fits, may just make it Dog rather than the whole Donkey - see how we feel atop Cardiac Hill?

Righto again...

For those that may have wondered, last week's outing didn't happen due to a number of factors at both ends. No, not norovirus, just bad timing all round.

Anyhoo, Monday next is ON. I am in the process of wrangling the car again, but it will much depend upon my silky-smooth powers of persuasion. I think we can therefore conclude that i'm very unlikely to have the car this time, however i'm not giving up all hope just yet.

So the two scenarios are -
  • Car = me + 2, @citricsquid has first dibs, A.N.Other more than welcome
  • No Car = meet up somewhere Chasewards, no number restrictions
- obviously A.N.Other + their dog + their mother could meet up @ Birches Valley in the first scenario, just i can only carry +2 myself is all.

Either way i'm riding my goddam bike over the Chase on Monday, +1, +2, + Barney McGrew, whatevs.

Care to join me?

I'm definitely in too. I've planned my entire week(end) around going to the Chase on Monday. I need to fly through the air and possibly fall into bushes. As much as I enjoy the Old Railway Line (my daily ride) I need a change of scenery.

Assuming no car: I can't decide whether to ride there or take the train. The total journey time for a ride from my apartment to Birches Valley is about 80 minutes if I remember correctly, whereas taking the train (apartment -> station, STA -> RGL, station -> birches valley) is about 40 minutes with 1/3rd of the physical effort... which means I have a lot more energy for the trails... but it's cheating, really, to take a train to go cycling. Ah whatever, I'll ride it. I'll survive.

See you Monday! I won't flake this time!

Me and the missus did the Complete Blue route 13miles from birches valley yesterday. It was a crackin track though probably a bit tame for you guys. Masses of bikers but everyone on 2 wheels very polite was good to see.

Enjoy your run tomorrow guys and no accidents.....

Sure thing, see you there!

Yeah, weekends aren't the best time to visit the chase, weekdays are a whole different experience. You can do the trails on a weekday outside of summer and not see another person the entire way.

@citricsquid - see you next week, all being good.
Really sorry to do this, but all isn't good and i can't now do mañana.

Am away week tomorrow, but hoping to be back in the saddle the one after that one - will post up when saddle-readiness has been achieved.

Delighted to say it has nothing to do with the dreaded 'c' word - other stuff has just gotten in the way. :)

No problem! I hope all becomes good, and you have an enjoyable week away. See you on the other side.

Talking of which (were we?), not next one, but Monday after - ie 14/09 - i'm looking for knobbly-tyre-based fun with singles and/or couples in my area.

No dogs.
