The first photo, I had my ears pierced at Mann the Jewelers next to them old wooden doors way back in 1974. Them were the days when Stafford were awash with the shops.

I have no recollection whatsoever of that church :(

When was Queensway built?
There was talk of the church being a nightclub for a while, after it was deconsecrated. There were graves there and they were re-interred elsewhere.

Queensway was built around '76/7/8ish, I think - opened in stages, as I remember.

And me ,about the same time. That's my only memory of the shops in the arcade leading to the market hall.

New Years Eve 1974, it was my 11th birthday. Had go the SGI for my last eye test, then Dad took me into town, and I got a pair of trainers from FHW and had my ears pierced.
I saw that arcade picture and suddenly got that indeciferable odour! Weird!
That's exactly how I felt, it had a smell, all of its own.

I went with a group of girls from work and ended up on the floor as my turn neared  The old wooden chair they plonked me on to have them done on is another of my memories each time I walk past the spot.
