Stafford Rangers v Halifax Town on TV

We seem to have a fair few Boro fans on this 'ere forum, and I have been reliably informed that the match against Halifax on Thursday 6th September will be shown live on Setanta....prime Stafford Forum banner opportunity!! Last time they were on the box, as I recall, it was wet and windy, and not really appropriate weather to hang up a paper banner. I reckon that this time the weather will be substantially better, and perfect for a bit of TV publicity!

Now that would be excellent! KO is 7.45pm. Last time we all watched in the Railway....it was very strange seeing the Marston Road on the box!

It would indeed, but I'm fairly sure it would infringe all manner of copyright laws!
Oh well....it would be good for those who can't a) get to a telly at 7.45pm, or b) get Setanta Sports, but I have no intention of sitting in front of a PC to watch a football match, especially when I can sit in a nice warm pub with a nice cold ale!

They will be unless there's a bigger match on at the same time.....yeah right!?! It doesn't get much bigger than this! Oh, and if the Rugby World Cup (not sure when it starts) is on then there's no chance of football at all...

Don't listen to these 'erberts. Get yourselves down to Marston Road and sample the match in person!!!!

Someone will tape the match, and then you can watch yourself back on TV just like I did last year. they can obviously spot a good looking fella, because the very first shot of the crowd was myself and Fatso Perry filling the screen, and I do mean FILL!

KEEP FOOTBALL LIVE!

I remember last season when they were on skysports, all my chums went, but I was in in Lanzarote with me family! So I suppose I've seen rangers in europe!! ;)

I was the only person in the pub, nay, on the island, jumping up and down when we equalized! It was pretty cool seeing me mates on telly too!

For those who don't support the Rangers as such but want them to succeed, paying £12 to get in is difficult to justify. It's more the novelty of seeing Marston Rd on TV for the 2nd time in a year than being there. I wish them luck, but would rather watch them for free, and in relative comfort.

I know that watching in the pub isn't strictly free, but I'd go for a jar or 2 before and after the game, plus something to eat at half time, so add this to £12 for a ticket....

Totally accept your point Rex, but as an addict, supporting a team that is nosediving into oblivion, I have a moral obligation to encourage Fords residents to visit the venerable old ground.

Crowds are down, and if they continue to fall, we will be facing the prospect of not having a team at all. That is not an over-dramatisation of the situation, just the bitter truth of football finance I am afraid. Rangers old rivals such as Scarborough, Runcorn, and Telford have recently folded and had to rename and reform, with varying degrees of success.

I plead to all of you, if you have any interest in the Rangers at all, get along to as many games as you can (even if it is only 1), it would a tradgedy for us to lose the famous club. Kids are £2 with an adult, mine love it, and I usually take as many from the neighbourhood as will fit in the car.

Football is not all about the over hyped farce that is the Premier League, ...

Sermon over. ;)

Mr Seed: I have given your point some careful consideration, and have decided that I will come along with BBC. I've not been to a match at the Marston Road for years, and £12 isn't much when I think about some of the crap I spend my money on!

The last match I went to was the promotion one at Burton, and I really enjoyed it. It is a shame that smaller clubs are suffering so much, and as a loyal Staffordian I should at least go to one match this season, and what better match that one on the telly! Will be wearing my bright red staffordforum tee for easy identification.

....very true, and if all the lower-league clubs fall to pieces then we'll have to rely upon more and more foreign players, which isn't gonna do much for the England team either!

How about a Forum outing to a match to celebrate the 1st Birthday? Is there a home match that weekend (22 September I think)?

Typing this with a considerable lump ... in my throat, I really am genuinely touched that I may have swayed a few of you!

Thank you for your support, ...

Christ I hope the buggers play well, at least we are off the bottom due to the fact that Northich are even worse than us at present. No pressure lads!

I've had unconfirmed reports that you are no longer able to purchase a half-time :pie: or burger at the Rangers...is anyone able to clarify this please? This has no bearing upon whether I go or not, but i'll be very disappointed if it's true! :munch:
