Stafford shops closing - Turning into a ghost town?

Jonah

Spouting nonsense since the day I learned to talk
They do look nice and smart - Now for something exciting that does nice food and is happy to have children eating in it to take over the ol' F&B place and I'd be a happy Queensville* resident

*Is St. Leonards technically Queensville? I can never remember
Aren't most places child-friendly now?

I believe the area should be forebridge or maybe the hough.

With all the shops standing empty and now more closing down we are turning into a ghost town at this rate.
Why is nothing being done to entice new shops to open up, if rents are to high then why don't they reduce them for a while. Surely better than having all these shops standing empty for so long!

Close them all and get the new area buzzing!

Really?

Sadly, landlords love charity shops. They pay top whack rent because their other costs are so low. They can afford a decent fit out and get minimum 80% reduction in Rates, stock and staff for free.

Yep, your comments are spot on. If I owned that property, I would jump at getting 25k per annum from a cast iron tenant.

Whilst in Stafford on Saturday lunchtime I was pleasantly surprised to see Oatcakes and Milkshakes rammed with not a free chair available and The Bakehouse (where we found a table) were turning away customers due to not having any space.

Not bad for two premises in "non-idea" locations....

I'm sorry but this is Stafford Forum.

It is simply unacceptable to be positive about ANYTHING!!!
