Stafford shops closing - Turning into a ghost town?

Just to clarify after having a lovely chat with Poundland (ex Wilco's, Chell rd) staff today....the store is closing, no refurb, it only ever had a 6mnth lease... Such a shame some lovely staff there, a 'few' are going to Queensville, but there aren't enough jobs for all the Chell rd staff....

Wishing them the best x
Interesting…

I wonder what will become of the unit then. I feel like it could be a good facility for something leisure-based - parking, all on one floor, decent amount of space, etc
Nail bar? Massive hairdressers? Yet another Gym? Black the windows and grow Cannabis plants?

"Something leisure-based" is a nice idea but probably unprofitable.

What's left of St. John's Market would fit in there....
The market is gonna have to go somewhere.

SBC have always wanted to get it out of its current location.

With their wonderous development of their Guildhall it might well be..............................

Has Pandora closed ? Walked past this afternoon and it was shut with bags of rubbish outside, no opening hours or stock in the windows either ?

It's a shame really , I preferred popping in for bits and bobs and thought it was a useful addition down that end. Seemed more popular than Wilkos ever was too.

It's going to be a difficult building to fill really. It's not really next to any other retail outlets so that might be off putting to anyone, and also it's quite a large building to fill.

Café Loaded , is also changing to a coffee shop rather than a breakfast / diner.

As well as selling bric a brac and antiques apparently.

Reopens after a mini refurb in a few weeks.

Sainsbury's is opposite!

The staff were saying even the Queensville store is struggling, they can't compete with home bargains & b & M who are now selling fresh/frozen food too.....hopefully their jobs aren't at risk too....

Pretty much every business on this promotional poster no longer exists....

The posters outlasted the shops ...

There was a guy on facebook a couple of weeks ago suggesting putting together a flyer of all the shops in Stafford - I didn't have the heart to point out the flaw in his idea of trying to keep it up to date in the current climate.
