Lichfield road is closed straight after Knowle Road entrance. (As you drive towards milford from Weeping cross). Can't see any roadworks actually taking place down that closed stretch today, just a bloke managing the barriers closing it off and directing traffic to alternative routes as they have to turn around.

Spouting nonsense since the day I learned to talk
They will close the whole road off to work on a hundred yard stretch. It's just like 16 miles of 'roadworks' on the M6.

A delivery driver approached the barriers from the closed sign. But would the barriers be moved to let him out onto the open side... No..Had to do a U- turn and drive back down the closed side! :ohno:

Was wondering why the 'A518 closed at Knowle Rd....follow diversion ' , had the diversion signs sending people back down Radford Bank, and then towards town at Silkmore Islands....
Seems a long way round , going all the way through Weston to get from Weeping Cross to Milford, when the shortest route is up the Cannock Road and through Brocton :q:

'An alternative route for traffic is available via A513 Weeping Cross, A34 Radford Bank, A34 Queensville, A34 Queensville Roundabout, A34 Queensville Bridge, A34 Lichfield Road, A34 Queensway, A518 Lammascote Road, A518 Weston Road, A518 Weston Bank, A518 Stafford Road, A51 London Road, A51 Lichfield Road, A51 Main Road, A513 Lichfield Road and vice versa. '

Seen so many turning around at the Weeping Cross islands this morning and going back down the bank. A few close shaves there as well !

I believe that, if you close a road, the official diversion should be along roads of a similar stature, to avoid larger vehicles being compromised by nipping down roads that aren't suitable, etc.

Enjoying a drop of red.

Either that or Highways are a bunch of wind-up merchants.

Signs at the top of Radford Bank today saying there's going to be traffic lights there 15th - 18th August.
Via Amey updates -
Phase Two is now underway at weeping cross. Unfortunately, due to delays we now foresee this phase being completed by 18/08/17.

We will continue as planned to commence resurfacing works on The A34 Radford Bank under 2 way lights on Tuesday 15 August, for approx. five days.
