I did a hospital run from Stone to Cannock today - against my better judgement, we used the A34 to get there - it was an utter farce!

Almost continuous disruption.

We went back through Rugeley and up the A51.

When Rugeley becomes a better option than Stafford, you know something must be very, very wrong.

Also apparently traffic going from Redhill roundabout to Sandon and Stone to avoid the A34 north queues.
I approached Stone from the Eccleshall Road this morning and the northbound queue at Fillybrooks was no more than what we think of as 'normal', hence my mistake...

When I came back from Stone the A34 was totally blocked southbound at the Redhill island by a cop car across the road, but I was going down Beaconside anyway at that point...

its not much longer to go through cresswell/norton bridge to stone and if you are in town then go via doxey
I got stuck on the railway bridge at Little Bridgeford the other day. The bus (it really is a bus route!) couldn't move, the car behind couldn't persuade the one behind him to reverse, the car at the front of the queue was not prepared to risk the gap that he had, despite there being eighteen inches on each side of the car.

And the bus was belching out seriously noxious fumes, made me feel pukey for the rest of the day.

And (pedant alert!), there's one s in our Creswell - Cresswell is up by Blythe Bridge - always a risk for people using route planners...

I got stuck there a couple of months back, mahoooosive coach heading towards me, I goes move back, and my door mirror got caught on the hedge on the left hand side. Couldn't move either way for love nor money till a very nice bloke came and helped. Scratched down the side of Bob the Focus. It's bad enough taking a car over that bridge, nevermind buses.

Anyone thinking of doing that today, temporary 3way traffic lights at Sandon Road(fromStafford)/A51 junction earlier. Weren't there at about 10am but there at 1-30. Don't know what they're doing or how long for. Didn't seem to be much going on just a few hi viz blokes standing in the entrance to Sandon Hall. The tailbacks were quite long in both directions on A51 & as far as I could see on Sandon Road towards Stafford.
They must have a surplus of traffic lights at highways.

My sister lives in the newish houses a bit further up on the right. Doesn't half wind her up when I refer to it as the Pear Tree.

Are they just taking the piss now?

The cones on Weston Road have been there 3 days without any work going on.

This country must have about 80% of the cones in Europe, they have to put them somewhere. We all have to do our bit.

Beaconside northbound queueing back from Redhill to Sandon Road.

Breakdown(s) on the roundabout, apparently.

Possibly squaddies - it could be an ambush.
