TRAVEL UPDATE:
The M6 remains closed Northbound for ongoing recovery work, following the serious incident earlier.
Delays are still in excess of 60mins on the A5/449 from J12.
The motorway will remain closed throughout the night for repair and bridge inspection work.
Delays on approach to the closure at J12 are back to J11.
It’s also affecting travel time through Acton Trussell as traffic tries to avoid the queues going Northbound.
Had to get off the M6 Toll before Cannock and come down all the narrow back roads in order to avoid this at about 10pm last night. Or at least the current Mrs p did as she had wanted to drive 😁

I think today is what is described as "horrible" if you relied on driving round our town for a living.
I had to go to Cannock Hospital around lunch time so left myself an hour plus the added bonus of knowing local roads and how to get to the front end of congestion, so I thought! Nipping round Lammascotes, Fairway and St Leonards to miss some of the backlog and get to the front of the Lichfield Road lights, only to get through those and sit in crawling traffic as 3 ambulances eventually passed. By the time I got over the bridge I decided to go round vi Acton Trussell and Brocton and got to hospital 3 minutes late.
Coming back, came via Brocton, Tixall way and straight home.
This evening I read there's been a knock at Redhill so traffic is backing up in various directions, on top of the roadworks already there.
I hope today's incidents left nobody seriously hurt and everybody got where they needed to be eventually!

"I had to go to Cannock Hospital around lunch time" - not troubled by Coronavirus by any chance ?

Does anyone know what the traffic situation is at Weston rd/Hydrant way? Advance signs last week just said road closed 14/4-21/4. Other signs say Tixall rd closed at St Thomas Lane. Can you get straight over Beaconside roundabout on A518 both ways? There was no problem on Friday (14th).

Spouting nonsense since the day I learned to talk
Tixall Road near Hydrant Way will be closed for 'surface dressing' in the next 7 days - weather permitting. PITA especially given the poor quality stuff they use.

Stones have already been thrown on much of that stretch of road. Best avoided until other people's cars have swept the stones away and incurred any damage.

I still find stones in my tyres, and they did the top of Kingston Hill like 2-3 years ago now

Some people can be so silly...walking with the small one to Tesco this morning and saw a Ford transit pull out of a junction, both the passenger and driver didn't have seatbelts on....so checked the vehicle for tax online and what do you know ? Not taxed....

Stepson & girlfriend witnessed a truck going round a roundabout today, large can of diesel fell off the back and cap fell off spilling a quantity of fuel on the road. Driver got out, picked it up, put the cap back on the can, threw the can back on the truck & drove off. They spent 20 mins on the phone to 101 without an answer, similar on an attempt to phone the Highways Agency, so dialled 999 At least spoke to someone but they were unsure of the outcome.

Unfortunately often pointless as untaxed due to new keeper/owners not registering.
I don’t know why dvla/police don’t pursue the previous keepers when this happens. For many years it’s been the sellers responsibility to inform dvla of buyers details.
Maybe in this case there’s no address for their caravan?🙊🦔

Weston road closed both ways on town side of Beaconside roundabout. Hopefully just overnight. Motorbike show starts at showground tomorrow. Traffic will be a pain in the arse for the next few days.
