Shocking queueing along the A34 towards Stafford recently- literally queueing from the top of Yarlet bank all the way to the Redhill roundabout. I suppose the dual carriageway reduced to one lane around Pets at Home roundabout, the A34 into Stafford closed & drivers blocking entry into the Redhill roundabout doesn't help. Almost gave up. When do the Redhill roundabout roadworks start - converting it into 3 lanes and installing traffic lights? I guess that'll be an 18 month rather than a 6 week job?
The closure into town seems to have caused absolute chaos, much worse than when the other direction was closed a week or so ago.

The resurfacing work seems painfully slow going. Think the same people doing the paving in town must be doing it

I think you'll find it's not the same people, it's actually a race to see who can complete the works last with a consolation prize awarded to the company with the longest snagging list that we'll all end up paying for!!!!

Absolute bunch of incompetent winkers employed by an even more incompetent bunch of winkers!!!

Memory not good?

Or just too young?

You need to know

That it was a Conservative Government that introduced legislation that allowed any utility, hobbiest, road mender, cable layer, house builder, gas fitter, water Co, jewel thief, rat catcher, pom pom manufacturer, traffic light leaser, bingo winger, cabbage crate, clip on tie wearer, sewerage worker, Chinaman, shop keeper, suet pudding, fairy light, standard lamp, lighthouse keeper, centre back, letter frack to dig up any road or highway

At anytime

With no requirement to cooperate on a matter of mutual concern with any other similar outfit or gymslip

Just so you know

And Blair/Brown had 13 years to change it and didn't.

And the Libdems had five years where they could have used their 'influence' to change things but couldn't be arsed either.

Doesn't matter the political party, we're fcuked every which way with regard to everything.

I suspect there was a lot behind the scenes the Dems did to reign them in, given how much more unhinged the Tories have been in the last 8 years.

Ah yes, that kindly friend of the common man and champion of university students, Nick Clegg.

What a guy!

What a party!

Lights are out at Newport Road and Station Road. E.ON are there and there's temporary lights up the bridge.

Saw a sign by the Windmill saying Doxey Road would be closed from 11th September for (I think it said) three months.
Is that due to the Chell Road regeneration thing? Regeneration is probably the wrong choice of word, but you all know what I mean.
Roads round here ain't half going be busy if that's the case.

Looks like Chell Road is closed from 11th Sept 23 till 3rd May 24.

If they are still doing what was mentioned on the Western Access Road plans then it will never be 'open' again.

They are suspending the one-way on North Walls from Malt Mill Lane to Queensway for that period too.

Isnt this to do with the new cycle lane ?
"Other schemes going forward will be reduce speed in Chell Road, remove barriers/central island opposite Lamb Inn; allow more space for pedestrians/cyclists at Chell Road/Gaol Square; and remove guardrail in Foregate Street"

EDIT: Just found the new plans... can't see it improving anything apart from some smoother tarmac.

The sign was on the Doxey Road just past the roundabout which suggests that it's the Doxey Road itself but I may be wrong.

The roadworks will be on Doxey Road, Broadeye roundabout, Chell Road, Gaol Square roundabout & Foregate Street (northbound).

They are also removing the merging lane on Chell Road (from Queensway direction).

I think they are raising the three pedestrian crossings as well, so that'll interrupt the night time racers. 🤣
