The bloke that used to run it, many moons ago, worked at St.Georges. He used to buy the cheaper ice lollys and try n pass them off as Walls and Lyons Maid. He cut corners when doing the cleaning at work too.
I was going to say my memories of my childhood in the park , many moons ago, was having the Walls ice creams ( that came in a block of ice cream in a packet and two wafers to stick it between ) from that kiosk. Maybe wasn't a Walls one after all then :D

The kiosk building is ugly and detracts from the park, as such I won't be sad to see it go. I think the new café will be a success.

I hope the existing kiosk owners can be relocated in a new building / room as part of the proposed new café.

I was thinking the same after reading the article.
a day later, i'm thinking the current owners of the kiosk have too much resentment to be a part of the new café.

the kiosk really is ugly. you wouldn't know it was open unless you walked right up to it.

We have got 2.5 million pounds to rejuvenate the park.
We have got 40 grand to rejuvenate the town centre.

Aah, different budgets, I'm told.

No all the money comes from S106 payments requested from developers to make a planning application approval sweetener "no likely no permission" and that's why it's burning a hole

it sells simply crisps, some lollies and soft.
Yes, but where else is one to purchase soft in the town centre?

You can't even buy soft in Tesco, Asda, or indeed any of these so-called one-stop-shop outfits in town.

Where, pray tell, am i otherwise to purchase soft? Myself and other soft addicts are likely to left bereft by this cold-hearted move.

Not impressed about this proposal

It's on the front page of the Express & Star Stafford edition today but I can't seem to find it on their website so apologies for the link above to one of the worst sites I have ever used what with popups and mandatory questionnaires appearing just to read an article!

I think the owner is spot on - the new cafe will be sure to charge a lot more than the current one.

There is an online petition here too but there's only a few votes at the moment:

Let's face it if the council have decided it's happening then it's happening regardless of any petition, I admire you trying though if you believe in it so much. I used to go to the kiosk as kid so do have memories, but to be honest I didn't even realise it was still open.

SBC turning the North end of town into a residential area, the town will become more 'vibrant' in the evenings, apparently.
SBC have the backing of our MP.

Enjoying a drop of red.

It remains to be seen exactly what they plan but in principle that's probably a good idea.
