But they wouldn't get to be taught be me if they went to those other places, and I'm pretty darn awesome.

You lot are miserable! I quite like going to Stoke, all the people are friendly & chatty ( just like places I've lived in the Midlands) & once you get over the fact that they're all as thick as fook & sound like they belong in Liverpool you will have a great time....

*I jest of course, they don't ALL sound like they belong in Liverpool, some sound like Mancs...

I like Stoke and it's surroundings too - and it's nice to see development happening there a well

As for students, you'd be surprised at how great Stoke / Hanley / Newcastle-U-L works as a cost effective, easy to deal with base to live in for 3 years, it's friendly and well received - not everyone wants the distractions of studying in a big city. Stafford for the most part, for all of it's lovely place to settle down in-ness doesn't always make for a great student experience.

    Late to the party clearly...

I know you said no shopping but I could kill an hour in Rubber Soul Records in Stoke town without too much trouble.

Or get a bus down to Longton and explore the Gladstone Pottery Museum - an actual working (ish) Victorian Pottery.

Outside the station, catch bus to Newcastle. Start your lovely day from there. When you are sated, return to Stoke.

Have to give massive compliments to whoever made the decision to sort out Hanley Bus station. Went to the theatre in Hamely last night and needed to catch the 101 back at 11pm. Was a little hesitant about getting a bus so late at night, but needn't have worried. Place was clean, very very well lit, pretty busy for the time of night, had seats to sit on, was warm and dry and had excellent electronic information boards. Bus arrived on time as well!! Highly recommended if you are out in Hanley and don't want to drive for whatever reason.

So far, Hanley Bus Station has scored 3 more goals, in all competitions, than Danny.

Does it still take three days to get from Stafford to Hanley (and vice versa) on the 101?

Took an hour on the way back, but yeah compare to the 20 mins it takes int he car it seems like an age. More of a concern to me was the complete absence of any sort of personal hygeine from most of the other passengers. I mean seriously 'hygiene dude'!

That doesn't surprise me. A couple of years ago I was watching a Stoke football match in a pub in Hanley. Despite my friends and I cheering for Stoke we were told by the locals to leave the pub because we were not from Stoke. I haven't drank in Stoke since and never will.

To be fair to Stoke, they might be counting most of our drunks in that total, if they haven't got going before 10pm.

Every time I've been out in Stoke, or oop 'Anley....I've always seen at least one brawl, or been started on for what ever reason.

Probably because I enunciate my words so people can understand me.

Newcastle on the other hand isn't a bad night out.
