STAFFORD: Parade will form shortly before 11am by the war memorial at Victoria Square. There will be a ceremony with the laying of the wreaths and a two minutes silence at 11am. A service will then be held at St Mary’s Church and at 12.15pm.

Thank you - are they marching around the town?
That's the only info that I could find - but I think I've seen a road closure sign related to this event where Gaolgate Street meets Gaol Square, which would imply some sort of processionary affair around the town centre, but I could be mistaken. If I hear anything more detailed in the meantime, then I will post it here.

There is a sign near the entrance to Wilkos car park warning traffic that the procession will go up Earl Street.

Does anyone else feel that it is a bad show that the details of the time and route of such an important event are not easy to find. I have scoured the Newsletter and found all the details for parades in Eccleshall and Gnosall but nothing for ours. Once again I say thanks for the Forum!!

I have been wondering if the sign that I mentioned might actually be to do with the Christmas lights switch-on..

I have oft said that one of Stafford's major shortcomings is its apparent inability to advertise and promote anything that is happening in the area. I'm glad Stafford Forum helps, in some small way, to fill that void. :)

In fairness, you should see some of the things people Google to find Stafford Forum; I dare say most of them couldn't be worked into the local press. ;)

Our elected leader JL was in attendance at the ceremony today sporting a dazzling necktie that would look better placed at Lords....

Because we did not know the time of the parade we sat freezing outside Starbucks from 10.45am. Three cappucinos and two hours later we were rewarded - well done to all involved.

A few posts under my belt
What time did the parade take place in the Market Square yesterday? Me and the lads waited about until about 10 past 12 but we had to go to Tescos and get on with our Sunday jobs. There were loads of people around when we left and it seemed like something was about to happen but we had to go. If anyone can let me know, I can at least know for next year (I've noticed time goes quickly at my time of life, so I'm planning that far already!)

From previous years it seems that activity is centred in the Market Square on the day of the 11th, but Victoria Square on the Sunday.

What happens when the 11th is a Sunday i do not know.

I happen to know a few people who were involved in the actual parade - if I'm hassled a bit earlier next year, then I'll find out the intentions from the horses' mouths.
