It's all gone very quiet here... I think there's only me & Wembley1972 left! Has everyone else lost interest already?

Derek Holt from the Climax Blues Band on air 6-7pm... Derek will be talking about his time with The Climax Band and playing some of the music that inspired him. www.super-radio.co.uk or http://super-radio-stafford.webs.com/ or follow us on Twitter
Some excellent music on that show

Just a few general comments. I really like your playlist overall but please stop some of your DJs constantly talking over the intros, it is very VERY annoying. Also, if you are going have the news on the hour, please make sure that it is at least nearly on the hour. A few times I have noticed that you have started the news at say 4.55pm and claimed that it's 5pm it's quite disconcerting.

I have listened on several occassions too and thought there are no DJ's, but I have decided to stop listening for several reasons.
I sent several messages via email during December to them and didn't once receive a reply. The music isn't very often to my liking and I also find that when there is a DJ present that there is too much talking over the start of songs.

Also they seem to have ignored me on here too (via PM and in this thread) - I'm not sure if it is down to my earlier comments about the earlier sound quality issue's but if that is the case then they obviously don't appreciate constructive critisism which is all it was.

As Jay has pointed out - it has indeed gone awfully quiet. There was so much "hype" in the week or so running up to the launch, which seemed to come to a halt only a week after being "on air". A crying shame really, but I suppose everyone has their own individual reasons like myself.

EDIT - Despite my own reasons, I still wish the station the best of luck and hope that it gains popularity.

Thank you for the above comments, please allow me to respond as follows...

I regret that some people may feel as if they have been ignored, that is not our intention and must apologise for this.
I will look into why PM's have not been picked up by any of our team.
We wanted to be a little different with our news bulletins, to provide some local news + national and international stories at 5 to the hour. The thinking behind this was every other radio station runs news on the hour so we wanted to run with ours at 5 to the hour and have music across the top of the hour. Listeners can listen to our local news then tune away if desired to catch other news elsewhere. No time checks are given out at news bulletins.
Presenters talking over vocals is one of the most annoying things they can do, after all listeners tune in mainly to hear some of their favourite music and a DJ talking over it is a big turn off factor (as indicated above). Our presenters have been instructed to respect the music and engage their brains before they put their mouth into gear; however some of them are young and very inexperienced but very passionate and enthusiastic.
Also, during the bad weather and the Christmas/New year period some of our team have had problems getting into the studio.
The aim of the station is to promote the interests of Stafford and the local community and give local people some radio experience, both on air and off air. We have not yet filled our programme schedule so some shows lack presenters. We have advertised extensively to fill various positions and hope to bring more live shows soon. We are a not for profit company (we are a CIC - community interest company) and not in this to make money as any surplus at the end of the financial year is put back into the community or the station. 50% of our income can only come from commercial enterprise, the rest from other sources such as donations etc. The station project was set up with little capitol, no one is getting paid + we are relying on goodwill, charity and the help from the local community to move the station forward.

Some good points addressed there. In light of what you say, it may have been preferable however to fill your programme schedule prior to going on 'air' or internet should I say. People can find continuous music something of a turn-off, especially if it's not to their individual taste. Even more so if said music is punctuated with repetitive ads which have presumably been produced in-house. People can use ipods and such like for this purpose without the annoyance of commercials and (let's be honest) a rather dubious random selection of music.
Again, as others on this thread have said - just constructive criticism. Also it's good to see some participation in the forum rather than just seeing it used to promote your programmes.

I still listen from time to time but don't really have anything to say, it kind of is what it is. I hope you continue with heads-ups such as
LIVE & LOCAL The Local music scene with Jake and Eric: TONIGHT from 6pm on www.super-radio.co.uk Altern 8, The Adventure Babies, Dan Walsh and Bizarre Inc and much much more!
as the website doesn't really give much info as to what's on when. I wasn't really at liberty to listen to the above but would've liked to - it doesn't take much to keep people informed and there must be many who tune in without commenting, especially those lurking who couldn't comment anyway. I for one would appreciate continuing forum warnings of upcoming 'stuff'.

A lot of the earlier 'noise' on this thread was anticipatory, and i think most would agree with wmr's
Despite my own reasons, I still wish the station the best of luck and hope that it gains popularity
though of course best wishes aren't as good as bums on seats - or hits on site. Given the resources you have i think you're making a good fist of it. Perhaps if people wish it to move in more mysterious ways they could step up to the proverbial plate?

Ultimately a silence on the forum doesn't necessarily equate to a lack of interest. Or does it?

I think the funniest exchange on the super Radio thread has to be:

Super-radio-stafford : guys anyone want me to say hi to them?
Gramaisc : Dear Lord, being stalked by a DJ - it's like Play Misty For Me in reverse......

I think I must award Gramaisc a skill point for that one - Quality!

Guess I must be one of the "lurkers" then !!

But, following from my post earlier today, and stuff discussed much earlier on this thread, couple of things don't seem to add up: Firstly an online radio station that starts broadcasting without a website; and secondly, (and this must surely take the biscuit) - a radio station broadcasting with no DJs !!!

The community angle is laudable and I think Stafford seriously needs promoting, it's a great place to live with alot to offer; but has this radio project been planned properly or is it just being made up as it rumbles along ?

It seems to me that it is a bit of both - better there than not at all, and what's wrong with finding one's feet having got feet in the first place.

So to speak.

Welcome to the forum bobby-d, and you have similar views to me. Bless 'em for trying to make this happen and lets pray it does take off a bit more, but I certainly think an extra few weeks before going live could have given time for the finishing touches and even the DJ stock level.
Having said that, some of my best idea's were never planned right and started out a bit "wobbly" but then got there in the end. However when it comes to something such as a radio station, if people aren't enjoying it from word GO they tend to rarely check back at a later date in case things have improved. NOTE - I genuinely hope that isn't the case for Super Radio.

@Super-Radio - I did a bit for Stone FM (graveyard shift) some years ago which I enjoyed doing, but having 7 kids, chickens & doves, work, 3 wife's and a dog - hang on, I mean 3 dogs and a wife..... I just don't have the time to spare otherwise I would have loved to fill an empty shift for ya. If she ever boots me out 'n' divorces me though I shall let you know ;)

I'm not sure your kids would be overly happy with that description :)
