Bah Humbug!

I'm not saying that's how a Christmas tree should look and it's certainly not how I do Christmas, but what I don't understand is why a personal Christmas choice evokes such strong reactions.

Why would an abundance of presents make a keyboard warrior issue a death threat? I must be missing something.

Then you have this.

I understand the logic behind it, but again, it's not a dictatorship. We've always done that all presents are from Santa though this year, now they are older it's only a select few and most being from us. Mainly because hubby was fed up of Santa getting all the credit! What we do and how we choose to explain it to our children isn't up for input from every parent in the land, just because you pop a child or two out doesn't give you the automatic right to make the rules.

Enjoying a drop of red.
Driving along Baswich Lane this morning there was a Mini stuck in the queue going the other way. On its roof were reindeer antlers and on the windscreen, Christmas tree lights. Not on the edge of the windscreen but covering its entirety obscuring vision to a quite catastrophic degree, I would imagine.

Clearly there are some people, in the wider community who cannot distinguish the fine line between festivity and fuckwittery.

When the kids were small, so quite a few years ago, they wanted all the Christmas decorations put up at the begining of December "because everyone else has put theirs up". Well before Chrismas the whole family was pissed off with them and the kids wanted them taken down again. Nowadays we seem to have settled for them going up a week before Christmas Day. However I agree with Gramaisc
I can remember waiting for the Sun to set on Christmas Eve, so that the tree and decorations could go up.
, it was great fun with the whole family gathered to put up decorations, decorate the Christmas tree, heap all the presents round it and enjoy all the Christmas Eve traditions. The kids always had quite a few presents, but most were small & inexpensive.

Why?

NB. Not being miserable, just asking a question.

its something we have been doing the last 5 years or so after i was diagnosed with an incurable and progressive health condition. Decided to make twice the memories! We do the whole thing, tree, sprouts, crackers, Christmas pudding and of course gifts! We, well actually husband, cooked for 16 this time!

Plans this Christmas eve, traditional 2 pints in the kings arms, food from happy meeting, early pyjama visit from santa. Next day a rare trip out on Christmas day to get my daughters dog prior to her visiting us that evening.

Earlier this week I was reminded that Christmas is 'one day'.......
You could well of been speaking to me.....

For many thousands of people that work in Retail, over the Christmas period they will have only ONE day off - Christmas Day itself.

For the many thousands of People that work as Nurses, Carers, Prison Officers, Clergy, Farmers, Bar staff & Chefs and in the Emergency Services they wont even get a SINGLE day off.
