The Great Downtime Incident of January 2010

Sorry about all the problems we experienced yesterday, guys and gals. The server that hosts Stafford Forum had a bit of a fit, and forgot what time it was, resulting in a lot of posts that were time stamped with a date/time in the future! This confused the hell out of The Forum, and caused the index to become corrupt. So, I had to rejig a few things and restore from a backup from the night before.

This unfortunately means that some posts from yesterday have been lost. Sorry. :soz:

It's still behaving a bit funny. It won't let me mark all as read. But it's better than nothing...

Fair enough, it has now that I've added a post after ijmooree's first one. He's the source of all the trouble, in my incompetent opinion.

Everything is back to'normal'. Trebles all round to those whose efforts have restored us to 'normallity'.

Indeed. I have deleted his post, as it was troublesome. Sorry ijmooree. :(

Poor sod. Joins up, joins in, and is immediately eradicated. Don't take it to heart, ijmooree, it's not usually like this. Normally it's mostly babbling mentallism...

ijmooree seems to be on here permanently now - has he become instantly obsessed or have we merely stolen his soul?

Yes, I'm not sure what that's all about. I'm hoping that once he logs-in and out again, normal service will be resumed!

tek's last one in Castletown bypass won't go either.
Wasn't me! :strange:
It went eventually - possibly when the future arrived and overtook it.

ijmooree has gone now, as well. Let's hope he returns...

All appears 'normal' - but, presumably basil will reappear.

I assume ijmoore never signed up, at least as far as the forums are concerned? Or rather, he did but it wasn't until later on today. Or something.

Ah, an excellent theory! I've been wracking my brains trying to figure out why he was constantly logged in. I even interrogated his record in the database, but MySQL stores dates as integers, so something like that wouldn't have been immediately obvious.

Have a skill point. :)

I'll try

EDIT: My post has timed correctly

Is this maybe a brief glitch on the server hosting the boards?

Oh dear. Unless I'm mistaken it seems to have happened again.

It's currently 8.18AM on 3rd Feb. Florence seems to have posted at 10.37 today http://www.staffordforum.com/viewtopic.php?id=3931

Let's see what happens when I submit this post!

[Edit: my post has done the same]

This does seem to be the case. I'm a bit concerned that it has happened again, even if only for a brief interval.
