My first visit yesterday. Met friends for what was billed as "coffee and cake". Only one among us succeeded in obtaining actual beverage and cake. Two more managed to get drinks. The rest of us gave up. In just under two hours, no member of staff came anywhere near our table. I went over and tried to order cake. I stood at the counter while on the other side of the counter, two girls chatted animatedly and completely ignored me. I can only assume that the cakes are for display only. One chap, who had been before, knew where the menus were kept, so I had a look (obviously the closest I was going to get to actual food) and thought it looked OK. Nothing special but certainly OK. Felt fed-up, if not actually fed. Noticed the manager of The Swan in there - should think he went away laughing up his sleeves.
In the faint hope that the management of The Post House ever read this, here are some phrases you might want to teach those "stars" you were recruiting: "Hello", "Can I help you?" "Those people have been in since last Tuesday, do you think we should see if they want anything?"
