My husband went out last night with a friend, for a few quiet beers in town, after a couple elsewhere decided to head to The Post House for a couple of drinks but were very rudely refused entry to the premises unless they paid a £12 charge on the door for a club night. What a ridiculous way to treat customers, I think a huge mistake could have been made last night in alienating a lot of people who regularly use the place. Between the poorest ever excuse for customer service displayed former cocktail staff and the way my husband and his friend were spoken to last night by door staff The Post House is far from being a welcoming place.
yeah, as andy pointed out it was a
hed kandi night, which is a pretty big deal (for the kids) and i am quite impressed that the post house managed to bring such a big name to little ol' stafford..
i think it's important to remember that the post house is trying to do something a bit different with nights like this - i.e. bring a vibrant, modern club to stafford.. it's not my cup of tea now i'm a bit older, but when i was in my twenties i would have jumped at the chance to go to hed kandi (indeed, i did, often travelling all the way to birmingham/manchester/sheffield/etc. to do exactly that) so the fact that such a big name club night, which travels all around the world and is a hugely successful brand, is in stafford quite frankly amazes me..
such big name club nights are, rightly or wrongly, quite "exclusive" and will very often refuse people just because they are not the right sort - i.e. not fashionable/trendy/beautiful/etc. enough.. you might disagree with this (i would certainly fall into the "not trendy enough" category!), but the myriad youngsters inside having a great time exchanging bodily fluids and climbing the walls off their tits on cake love it, as it lends an air of exclusivity to the place and means they don't have "dads" cluttering up the area and moaning about the loud music while supping on their pints of mild..
if i wanted a posh meal, i wouldn't go to mcdonald's then complain that the service felt very rushed and the food was bland and generic.. likewise, if i was about town on a saturday night, i wouldn't go to the post house.. this isn't a criticism - just that i know it's not my sort of place during the night (i.e. i don't want to pay to get in somewhere, loud music, etc.) so i wouldn't go..
i do, however, plan on going to the mexican night for my birthday (expect a phone call today, mr. post house
) and can't wait to treat my ol' dears to the steak night as well..
basically, the post house are trying to strike a balance between providing a welcoming, accessible venue during the day and most evenings, whilst still putting on exclusive and more discerning events over the weekend.. more power to 'em, i say.. as i say, all this loud music, drinking liquid nitrogen, snorting plant food, etc. is a bit beyond me now, but the rest of it sounds quite appealing
