So Dear Forum Member
I Wish You A Happy, Healthy and For-filling 2012
I recently shared the following with our staff & Suppliers:-
Dear Friend Of The Lewis Partnership,
With 2011 drawing to the end The Lewis Partnership has been reviewing the year. Success’s this year including surviving our on-going recession, but also developing our business further.
This year we opened The Dog and Doublet Inn, at Sandon on the 1st April after a complete refurbishment, we now have our fifth property offering a true country inn with eleven bedrooms, restaurant and bar with its unique location adjacent to Sandon Hall.
Greengate Deli has had a superb year going from strength to strength especially with its outside catering to local offices and businesses. The Bear Grill has seen the positive results of a new menu, with a steady growth in a business throughout the year.
The Moat House has gone from strength to strength, with further refurbishment during the summer of our bedrooms and bathrooms, this year six ground floor rooms were refurbished. However the largest project at the Moat House has been the redevelopment of the Restaurant, again we called upon Wedge–Wood Construction who undertook the Dog and Doublet project for us to assist with the refurbishment of the restaurant. The project has seen the conservatory redesigned as an Orangery, with the roof of the conservatory now fully insulated, so warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer, also the project has seen the installation of a new super-efficient air source heat pump based heating and cooling system. New flooring and bi-fold glass doors to the Trussell room add to the overall effect, feedback has been fantastic so far!
2011 also has been the year of social media, if you haven’t noticed we’re on Twitter @themoathouse and facebook/moathouse
2011 has seen its fair share of promotions, notably a reorganisation in the Moat House kitchen has seen James Cracknell become Head Chef, whilst Matt Davies has formalised further his role as Group Executive Chef for The Lewis Partnership. At The Dog and Doublet Inn, Will Frankgate has had a superb year as Head Chef, crowned by the birth this Christmas of his daughter, Luke Stanley has become Operations Manager at The Moat House, having started back with us at the age of 15 – congratulations Luke. Corrinna Till has become Operations Manager at The Swan from her starting position on the bar in the opening weeks of 2002.
Awards are always nice to have, but not as important as regular customers, this year we have had both, including winning Best in Category for The Dog and Doublet Inn and The Moat House in The Taste of Staffordshire Awards 2011.
2012 promises to be bigger and better with it being the tenth anniversary of our ownership of The Swan, our builders hats will be out again as the ground floor is given a complete facelift in preparation for the celebration. The Moat House is a continuing redevelopment and January will see our Colin Lewis Suite transformed with new carpets, curtains and the decorators doing their magic.
2012 will also see us celebrating the Queens Diamond Jubilee in style and it will be our fourth year of catering at Stafford Castle Shakespeare Festival.
Finally a huge Thank You to the 262 members of staff who make up our team & to all of our suppliers who never let us down and who are all part of our extended team.
The Lewis Partnership would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year and look forward to working with you for a successful 2012.
I Hope You all Have GREAT NEW YEAR
BEST WISHES
CHRIS LEWIS
