Is anyone watching the X Factor.

I will admit I love it - although I noticed that the performers had had their voices messed with !

Yeah I agree and it's ruined it. It doesn't even make them sound better! I used to do karaoke, and a little reverb is all that is needed to smooth someone's voice over a bit.... x-factor is making people sound like robots!!
SIMON COWELL - SCRAP THE CRAP and bring us RAW un-messed with talent!!

Yea verily.

Going with the flow, however, given that at this stage in the 'competition' there is no public input on the outcome it doesn't really matter if the audition has been enhanced in post-production.

If one 'artist' had been doctored and another hadn't in a phone-vote scenario that would be 'scandalous' - but now, like, who gives...

I was surprised to hear in today's news, one contestant from Saturdays show has a severe mental disorder.
Just the one?

I believe that she is the one referred to on the news.
Also heard this morning that the young coloured girl with the red flower in her hair is in some way connected to Simon Cowell's fiance.

To be honest, I do. It's not like decent. The effect they are using is making most people sound awful. It's one of those jumpy robotic sounding voice effects that we occassionally hear in a chart song... used right it sounds good but IMO the auditions were better when they didn't use it.

I suppose it depends on how discearning your ear is for music on whether it bothers you or not.

As for the MERCY rendition... what a PI***ER!! I cried with laughter :D

Isn't that one of the reasons people watch the audition stages? I thought that early on people tune in for the schadenfreude.

Oh absolutely I agree... but the effect is making them sound awful on a "blame the equipment" level, whereas I'd rather have a giggle at the real crudity of it all ;)

I realised that today ... the red flower girl wasnt that brilliant - I always have a laugh at the audition stages - then I get a bit bored - then I start watching again when its in its final stages :sing:

Would say she'd spent a lot of time rehearsing and being schooled. For a young girl to go on national TV with her own version of a 'hit' record and do it so confidently rang the alarm bells for me.
Tend to watch the auditions stages for comedy value, then abandon it once they get up to pub singer standard as it gets boring then.

I had the misfortune to watch (well loosely) the last instalment, and (leaving aside the subsequent misfortunes of the red flower girl) remain astonished by the general lack of vocal talent, and veritably flabbergasted by the praise heaped upon it from judges who are supposed to be arbiters of taste.

Having just watched Later... and seen in half an hour more talent than will be mustered in the entire run of this show i'm amazed this format has lasted as long as it has.

There is a picture of one of them in the stoopid pictures thread if you're missing them that much.

It is NSFW on account of being a FWHTO.
