The Yard facing closure!!

I have no issue with the yard, not exactly my sort of place at night but alright in the day. At least they had a few decent bottles in last time I was there, more than can be said for most places.

This must be one of the most positive messages from John Marwood... you always have such a negative view on EVERYTHING.

he takes some getting used to.. don't worry, you soon learn to filter out what's worth paying attention to and what's not ;)

Stafford is a small town, it wouldn't hurt to support the businesses.
Is this just a forum to criticize every business and how it is run? Support what's in Stafford, it's for everyone's benefit not just the workers running the businesses. The petty comments from businesses to competitor businesses are a joke. No one can operate by themselves so why slate how everyone else runs their business?

Get on with your own jobs!!!!

behave! we do nothing but support local business! and that includes between "competitors" - chris lewis is very active on here, and is always among the first to wish new businesses well and offer his support, for example..

however, this is a chat forum, so if there is some local gossip then people are going to chat about it - simples :P

Hello everyone, I work for the yard and just wanted to clear a few things up.
It's business as usual.
We are still getting food and alcohol stock so there is no need to worry.
We are being managed by a pub company that are connected to the administrators.
All christmas bookings are safe and we are still actively looking for more.
You will see no change to how we do things. So we can be sold.
There are company's looking to buy us, with one in particular looking to make a return to stafford.
If you have any more questions, please ask and I will answer.
Thank you for your time.

welcome to the forum, lukes :buddy:

i love it when this happens (i.e. a thread is posted about some local rumour, and it spurs an official representative into signing-up and giving us the real scoop)

more power to you, homes..

Personally, I'm desperate to keep the Yard open. It stops their clientèle from infecting all the pubs I actually like.

Bit harsh. Unlike other places in town they make families feel welcome and offer decent food at the same time. Important to offer places like this or kids only options will be a Big Mac!

My experiences of the Yard and its food obviously differs from everyone else’s. I've only ever had bad food, bad service and long delays at the bar no matter how many people are working and how busy the place is. So now I don't go.

Luke it has been stated in the official Yard quote that none of you saw it coming, so how do you know our Christmas bookings are safe because if you didn't see this coming then you wont know if you are going to be closed down.

Given that your reading matter includes The Publican's Morning News and official quotes from The Yard, Hayley, you undoubtedly know as much as poor Luke.

Good luck, Luke. I've never been in The Yard but I think I might visit soon.

How long is a piece of string? Are there men on Mars? What type of breakfast serial did my nephew have this morning?

Give the guy a break, you asked a question, he gave you an answer as best he can given the information available to him.

Besides, if the place is making money, which judging by the number of people I have seen in there when I have been in or been past, it probably is, somebody's going to snap it up before long.

Luke has come on here as an official representative and said in his post that he is happy to answer questions.

As someone who would like to know the security of their money they have paid I am perfectly within my rights to ask a question. I am a fan of the Yard and want to see them succeed.

You seem to have taken it that I am having a go at Luke, it is just a question.

If Luke doesn't know I am sure he (the person I asked the question to) will answer me directly.
