I can't say that with any certainty whatsoever. I can say that the mountain of evidence against vs the frankly non-existent evidence for a supreme being makes the decision to disbelieve very easy to make, but I can't disprove God. By that token I give all religions equal respect - I stay out of their way as long as they stay out of mine. Should someone wish to discuss their beliefs with me however they should expect derision and ridicule as befits such nonsense.
I'm struggling to maintain this view these days, and it's becoming more difficult to remain neutral.
Obviously there is the apparent exponential increase in Islamist themed terrorism which is reported in the media almost daily. Add to this the recent blowing open of the priests entering boys scandals, which the church appeared to be ok with until really pressed. Then you consider other religious nuts who instead of minding their own business actively go out to cause trouble - take those moderate and reasonable people over at Westboro as an example.
Yet there is very little good to be said for religion. Certainly religious groups do do some good, working with the homeless or Islamic Relief, for example. But it stands up to reason that these people are good people anyway, regardless of their faith, and would act likes this anyway. I do not believe that they are acting because they believe their faith requires them to.
Then there is the matter of the texts. Most are so abstract and ridiculous that using them as any kind of reference guide deserves to be laughed at, let alone used as an accurate historical representation.
