I heard a nasty rumour tonight about the The Golden Orient, Buffet Bar - Chinese - Hurricane Close, Stafford.

Sadly my son came home from school (as he heard it in the playground) and I also had a phone call from the mother in law  lol

Anyway, without going to much into it .. there has been rumours they found dead animals in their freezer !!

SERIOUSLY if this was the case they would have been closed down straight away!

I did actually ring them ... and they said this has been a rumour going round for 2 weeks.

Its hard enough to get a business going nowadays. but I personally cannot help wondering if this started when the travellers were sent packing. The same rumour was started about a chinest buffet bar in Newcastle/

Anyways, whoever started it - if there was ANY truth - they would have been shut down.
Could just be chinese whispers......

Makes me smile on the odd occasions I use The Big Wok in Birmingham, people paying a fiver to pile their plates high with chips.
Or my cousin who basically pays to get in and eats sweetcorn [mostly] and salad... weird.

There was that famous case in Wolves tho where the staff were preparing the meats for Abrakebabra or wherever and there was a dead colleague sitting alongside them...
Oh yes i know that place, it is mainly a sweet/desert type shop. Just under the bridge on the way to Wolves. Poor bloke was a dead as a doornail and they were just carrying on around him. The environmental health were not impressed.

I heard one about a microchip and the Golden Orient yesterday, from a mate who said the person that told him, was the one who was eating it. Who knowsss what is true!
the story about the microchip has also been said about Parkside chinese (Mandarin House) The same chinese that had a full inspection on rate my place and got 5 stars.

i googled the dead dog story and microchip- it seems its an old story which is untrue

Well whatever domestic pet it was I allegedly consumed there last night it was delicious. As long as it tastes like duck, that'll do me.

Pricey, but I do love the Golden Orient.

I have changed the thread title, to avoid any unfair association of one particular establishment with what seems to be an urban legend, which has been applied to various places over the years. ;)

Hopefully the spiteful rumourmongers are ashamed of the damage done to the Restaurant and that now with much support trade will be built up again

Admin edit: Threads merged.

Which is why Admin is a legend - urban or otherwise.

Spouting nonsense since the day I learned to talk
A girl I work with says this is true because it actually happened to her parent's friend's next door neighbour. Make of that what you will.

I'm sceptical.

If true the place would be closed down, the fact that it remains open is all the proof I need. Although I don't really like the food, so rarely go!

We used to go quite often but the prices have risen dramatically lately and quite a lot of containers were left drying out leaving very little choice, so we give it a miss now.

Haven't been for a while but always found weekends best as the rapid turnaround ensured that the containers were usually replenished regularly.

As Trumpet says, we were there on the Saturday night and the container thing wasn't an issue. You are spot on about the prices though, they have risen quite markedly in the past few months.

Has anyone tried Essence of the Orient lately, if so what's it like now?
