Sounds like a big fault they have rather than a local hub, still with such a large area being effected it is odd there service status page shows no problems.

I am on the 100mb internet but i got an early upgrade over a compliant i made after getting a card through the door saying the internet and tv would be out for a few hours to upgrade the box but at the end of the day the tv was working and the internet wasn't, i had to wait two days for an engineer to come and fix it, it turned out they had not hooked my internet back up so it was there fault, i have no idea if the 152 mb internet has now been rolled out in Stafford to 100mb customers or not yet.

i was considering virgin media in a few months time when my BT infinity contract comes to an end.
looking at virgins forums , it seems theres nothing but complaints about slow downloading , youtube buffering and the service always going down.
so whats the story around here in stafford , is there a lot of contention issues or is it pretty stable ?

ive got a few months to think about it so thats plenty of time for you guys to respond :)

I am more than happy with VM yes they cant claim 100% up time but it is very good for me anyway very reliable, i have no issues buffering or downloading, the speeds are very accurate to what package you buy at least that is my experience, the only thing VM need to improve is the upload speed but unless you are uploading or running game servers things like that it wont effect most users.

Likewise. Usually solid and reliable. I've had 2 complete outages in the last 10 years, the first was a couple of years ago and was a fault at the box down the street (to do with Signal levels) - lasted around 30 hours. More recently it played up and we were left without tinterweb for about 2 days, which turned out to be partly our router and partly the signal levels again.

Twice in 10 years? That's got to be at least 99.9% uptime if not more.

On another note if you do decide to go with VM get someone you know to recommend you and you will get free installation and your friend will get £50.

We couldn't get that as we didn't want a full package. All we had is broadband without TV or phone line, so it didn't apply. That's another thing worth mentioning though... their website leads you to believe that you must have at least 2 of the 3 services. If you only want broadband, you can have just broadband but you have to call them - and don't let them fob you off! Say that you know someone else who does the same.

For us, we are really happy with freeview (especially since buying a YouView box so that we get on demand stuff too), and our mobile contracts give us unlimited calls and we didn't want a phone line.

since moving to stafford , mobile signal is great for me so i wouldnt be wanting a phone line. my daughter loves to sit on youtube whenever she gets the chance, so needed to be sure that would stream ok.

not really bothered at all regarding upload speeds , im not running anything that would warrant it these days.

i download prob somewhere in the region of 250GB per month ( not torrents) , so i was thinking of the fastest download speed available becouse i would imagine they would cap the speed.
