If you can afford it the 100mb is not capped cant comment on the other speeds, but i download a lot with no trouble.

In all honesty I still wouldn't bother with the 100. I'm only on 30 meg and believe me I give it some grief! Even when you hit a cap you're only slowed to 10 meg for a while which manages fine for most stuff. If you download the 250Gb across the whole month I'd say the 50 or 60 meg (whatever it is now) would do you fine. Why waste money? :)

Just so people know, Virgin Media have removed traffic management for downloads. I'm on their 152MB package - always get 156 Meg when connected via Ethernet and ~100 Meg when connected wirelessly. Can't complain.

This thread inspired me to run a quick speedtest :)

A server close to myself:

Bit further, but it seems VM have decent routing to Scotland too:

9.27 this morning .

Just seems to have gone a hell of a lot slower than normal these last few days, and then last night it was crawling.

It was terrible on Wildwood last night - even struggling to stream Youtube - much to my 13 Y/O's disgust! lol

My son just told me it was at a crawl last night here (off silkmore) but i just did a second speed test and it is as good as the above result of mine so it must be fixed here.

No problems at all here. Pulling 32 meg on a 30 meg connection. Maybe my area is benefiting from your loss.

There seams to be more congestion on the network ever since removing the download cap

More online gamers, more computers per house, more downloading, movie streaming on mobile phones... it all has an affect.

Back down to 7.56 again, going to ring them...............

Well, after an hour on the phone to them, wires everywhere trying 2 laptops, a phone and desk top and getting slower and slower each time they tried to speed it up remotely, they did a test on the network in the area and reckon shouldn't be any problems.................. someone coming out to look at it on Saturday.
Should be getting between 25-30 mbps and now running at 8.86

OMG! :lorks: 31.63 this morning. Better ring and cancel that visit tomorrow now :D

Just rang... said they had found a fault in our area of Wildwood and engineers had identified the problem and were sorting it . The problems in this area should all be solved by 4pm today.

they usually give you a £5 or £10 off your next bill if you've rang and complained about slow broadband, or it's been down for anytime ... if there was a fault of course

That's good news. Last night was shocking again.

Seems virtually impossible to report a fault online without going round in circles with "frequently asked questions" attempting to fob you off. :grr:
