Howdy Rob, you certainly seemed to be in the know with the law and such things, but surely such a legal eagle as yourself would have done your homework with regard to folk spouting off in the Market Square as from my observations they are usually well meaning but babbling mentalists and would welcome further exposure on Radio Stoke. Have a nice day now......
whether they would welcome further exposure is irrelevant - the point he was making is that if someone shouted from the rooftops in a public place, and then subsequently complained when this outpouring was heard and passed on, they wouldn't have a leg to stand on..

oh, welcome to the forum, robertf1982 :D:up:

anyway, never mind all this quasi-legal bollards - when's BK coming to stafford?? lol.. i had one in brum the other day for the first time in years, and i have to say i have completely changed my stance on them.. i had an angus burger with bacon and cheese (real cheese, mind, none of this kraft cheese slice business) and it outclassed mcdonalds in every way! i was foolish enough to super size it, and i barely ate half of it (not for the want of trying).. not only that, but i still felt full hours later.. bring on the burger king, i say!

Indeed and perhaps the original from yankee doodle robertf was irrelevant as he didna mention burgers considering his kinfolk invented them. Yes BK do knock spots off maccyD the veggie option is a winner every time with me. My all-time fave fast burger outlet has to be Wendy's.......

I have no idea where you got the notion that RobertF1982 is American; his IP address certainly suggests otherwise. It would be nice if you kept your bizarre, unwarranted animosity under wraps when a newbie joins the scene, as well ;)

Animosity? certainly not. The new kid on the block was talking finance and refered to 'thousands' as 'grand' now pardon me if i'm mistaken that is not an indigeionous description and furthermore i did welcome the guy and further furthermore he didna refute my assumption. As i have been disgracefully insulted of recent (resident babbling mentalist) something which i'm sure i've never done, am i being singled out for being different?.....

No, not singled out at all; apologies if you felt hard done by.

I suppose it's hard to infer inflection in a text-based medium such as this, so when you peppered your posts with things like "yankee doodle" and "have a nice day now" it struck me as a little facetious or condescending, and I didn't want you to put poor RobertF1982 off! Clearly this was not your intention, and it's just my old brain misinterpreting your idiosyncratic posting style ;)

Let normal service resume :P

No you're missing the point, yet again. Your presumption based on what was, frankly an out of touch perspective of language, was incorrect. You kept on implying he was different purely because of his (presumed) nationality. Followed by a stereotypical greeting, showing that you were in fact the one doing the singling out.

As for the resident babbling mentalist.... i'm not sure that is such an inacurate label. But labelling is stereotyping, and i don't condone that.

EDIT: Damn taking 15 minutes to write a post!

I have to agree that 'grand' does seem to have become naturalised here in recent decades, particularly down south.

Oh dear i inadvertently seem to have created a bit of a fracas,
1, robertf is patently capable of replying to lesser mortals as me.
2, shoes, what utter twaddle.
3, I have never insulted fellow forumers.
4,'resident babbling mentalist' is hardly a compliment.
5, thankfully most folk have never taken me seriously.

Gilbert was a superb exponent of the languages and taught me many a pertinent response which comes in useful at times....
