'The Favourite' tonight. WOW !!! I can see why Olivia Colman got the Oscar, but Rachel Weisz and Emma Stone also play at the top of their game. For some reason Sky describe this film as a 'comedy,' can't help but think that up in the Sky is where they are on that one …
I don't know enough about the history of this period to put it in context (it's a story as such, not a history lesson, although I think they got the Tories right on the nail,) but very stylish direction .. sometimes a bit overly so for me. Two films it reminded me of in terms of vision:
'Barry Lyndon' from Stanley Kubrick and
'The Duellists' from Ridley Scott.
Your view of the principal characters shifts through 180 degrees as the film progresses. That makes for good story telling.
