What do you like about stafford?

Thought i'd make a topic to just see!

few things to start with

I like how we're not far from Birmingham at all, and in the middle of the country (pretty much)

i like how it's not overly busy (well apart from traffic problems) - and it's a rather quiet town- and nothing is far away (from where i live anyhow)

I'm an incomes to Stafford, moved here for work in 1996. Only ever planned to stay for a couple of years, but here we still are.

I like the fact that people here are really friendly.
I love the fact that the town centre has a good mix of national and independent shops (especially the independents, I think it's reall important to support local businesses)
Cannock Chase is on the doorstep, great for walks.
We have great road and rail access to pretty much anywhere in the country.
Lots to do nearby for families (Trentham, Amerton, Moorlands, Shugborough etc)

I've lived in a few different places, and Stafford has lots to offer, not too small that it is claustrophobic but not too big to be impersonal.

Can't honestly see us living anywhere else now...

I'd agree with all those points. I love stafford. I've lived here for 18 years now and think it's great.

I love Stafford

Central location to the M6, good train connections Easy access to major cities, The chase which is fab.

Yep, Stafford as in the county town of Stafford. I've lived in large cities and small villages (30 people), and places in between.

If money was no object, I would live in the Yorkshire Dales (my former childhood home there is currently up for rent!), but until that day, Stafford is the place for us.

Fat frog is right, we have a lot to be proud of in Stafford.

Part of Cannock Chase is in Stafford and the rest of it is on our doorstep
Not according to cannock chase website or any other websites: quote from cannock chase website "Cannock Chase District is located between Stafford and Birmingham and contains the district centres of Cannock, Hednesford and Rugeley."

Trip advisor is the only one that mentions cannock chase is in stafford - and they are biased

They are, nonetheless, a lot easier to get to if you live in Stafford as opposed to, say, Peterborough.

I thought Trentham was part of Stafford Borough. Did I get that wrong? And isn't part of Cannock Chase in Milford / Brocton area? Anyway, I stand by my comments, they are certainly nearby!

All of the points Dabbler and I agreed on ARE about Stafford. He said Cannock chase is on the doorstep and Trentham is nearby - both of which are perfectly true!

I'm fairly sure the Borough extends as far as Sherbrook valley - likewise i stand to be corrected.

If so, we have the best bits anyway...
