And isn't part of Cannock Chase in Milford / Brocton area?
I'm fairly sure the Borough extends as far as Sherbrook valley - likewise i stand to be corrected.

If so, we have the best bits anyway...
Sherbrook valley again is cannock - unless the web is wrong or cannock is trying to claim something thats not theirs lol

I think you'll find the bottom right sticky out bit of this Stafford map is South West of Brocton, Milford and Colwich which means part of the Chase between Milford and Wolseley Bridge area are in Stafford so I'm going to include the Chase as one of the things I like about Stafford.

Gramaisc - where did you get that map? I'm sure that I've seen that before, which is what made me think Trentham was part of Stafford Borough.

So it appears we can claim Trentham and Cannock Chase as part of Stafford, but frankly even if we couldn't, I still think we have a lot of great things to shout about.

This is it - http://staffordbc-consult.limehouse.co.uk/events/3993/images/web/505848_0_1.jpg - I thought that I Googled 'stafford borough boundary' in Images, but I can't seem to replicate it. I tried a few searches before I found anything useful, at all..

I like the fact that Stafford is a medium sized town in the sense I don't feel over rawed being here compared to big cities nor too small to get a small town mentality.
We have a good college and university, nightlife is pretty good and improving.
We have a mainline train station with direct trains to many towns and cities.
Only 5 minute drive into lovely countryside
Fewer chavs than other towns(but still too many)

To me, Stafford is the area inside the thirty mph speed limit signs - Stafford Borough may well extend well beyond that, but I still think of it as outside Stafford proper, once you're out of the thirty limit..

There are some 'grey' forty mph areas these days - in my system.

We only get this side of the valley, not the whole thing - you are being a little bit more than a little bit pedantic about the whole thing though Miss R.

It really isn't that far away...

Some years ago there was a 'Visit Staffordshire' tourism promotion brochure with a lovely picture of the mouth of Dovedale on the cover - unfortunately, the only bit of Staffordshire that was in the picture was the bit of the grass bank that the photographer was standing on - the rest was Derbyshire, not the it really mattered, but they could have faced the other way a little...

Most people think of Derbyshire when you mention the Peak District but a good chunk of it is in the Staffordshire Moorlands. When my daughter did her D of E weekend I dropped her off at the old Mermaid pub(now converted to self catering units) about 3 miles outside Leek, what a stunning location high above the Roaches.

Absolutely, the Staffordshire Peak District is really nice. Some nice walks around the likes of Ecton Hill and Wetton. Last Oct also did walk from Heathcote - Hartington - Longnor (stopped to sample coffee shop) - Earl Sterndale then bus back, after partaking of the Quiet Woman in Earl Sterndale. Quite a good walk that was.

My favourite bit. Park at Weag's Bridge and do a few radial loops.

The notice board at the top of Castern Wood contains a map that I drew.

Cannock Chase (I class Milford/Brocton as Stafford) and all the lovely countryside surrounding Stafford.

Within a few minutes from my door I can be walking down bridle paths to the chase, along canal towpaths, around fields, through woods.......

The (mostly)friendly people .
