I'm sure there was talk of trying to make darts an Olympic event....the problem being that it's only really the UK and the Benelux countries who compete! I suppose it means we'd have a strong chance of winning some medals..Moley said:Gon2seed what's your opinion on darts?
don't worry, we'd feck it up somehow lol..Andreas Rex said:I suppose it means we'd have a strong chance of winning some medals..
What about the alleged influence that refs have in football? Agreed they don't make an overall judgement based on the performance, but they do have to judge whether a tackle was or wasn't a penalty etc, and there have been plenty of instances over the last few years where referees have been accused of favouring certain teams and therefore making decisions that others may not have done...gon2seed said:Anything where a judge has any influence is under scrutiny
Yeah I press the red button when I self-appoint myself as an official for Big Brother...it's called the off button.gota quid said:hey most of us have red buttons on our remote controls now, maybe we get rid of the refs and judges and just press the red button,
we are all armchair officals. power to the finger
That's true actually, but considering 203 countries currently participate in the games, that still gives us mighty good odds! I've just remembered that the Australian darts player Tony David has haemophilia....surely darts isn't the best game for him?!gon2seed said:Aussies, Yanks (John Part, World Champion), Canadians and the Benelux nations all have a history of taking up the Oche, and its growing in popularity in the Far East
Fair enough!gon2seed said:Take your point about refs Andreas', but I only intimated that sports employing judges should be scrutnised. I've scrutinsed soccer, and the gon2seedometer says ....
It's a sport!
Could you not argue that an F1 team having a better car like McLaren of Ferrari is the same as Man Utd or Chelsea having a better squad? I often hear F1 sceptics argue that all drivers should race identical cars. It's like asking all Premiership clubs to field the same players. F1 is a team sport just like football, cricket or rugby - and the club with the best team wins.gon2seed said:my jury is out on F1, I like my sport to have level playing field

Hmm a load of fast cars going round and round a circit where thay can hardly pass each other and have to do it in the pits - not what I call entertainment. But then I can watch 5 days of Cricket which turns out to be a draw and be thouroughly entertained all the way so each to their own!gon2seed said:I just happen to think it is an entertainment,
you know, there is a thread in the Entertainment forum which would be more appropriate for this lol..lolly said:how about making big brother watching an olympic sport?
