santa baby, slip a sable under the tree....always makes me wish i liked christmas.

all i want for christmas....always makes me realise why i hate christmas so much.
how can you hate xmas?? even if you're not into the materialism/religion/joy/etc. it's still a couple of days off work and yet another excuse to start drinking at 10:00am.. i honestly don't understand when people claim to "hate xmas" :ohno:
bullshit!

the only good part about xmas is xmas eve when i get to see all you guys.

working tonight and tomorrow night at the pub, dealing with all the once a yearers who only come out at xmas.

got to get the train on saturday, if theyre not striking/too foggy/leaves on the line. wont get a seat even though i have a ticket, it will be busy, noisy and incredibly unpleasant.

xmas day spent with the family, no nicotine or alcohol for me because im on skivvie duty, cooking and washing up all day. dad and bro get wankered and fight, mum will be so exhausted shell be on the verge of a nervous breakdown, bro usually storms out, mum crys, dad shouts and takes it out on me and mum, i escape round to either andreas or lous and beg sanctuary. but its not this is all done in private, they invite their friends round for food to so this is a very public display of social dysfunction!

boxing day, dad in foul hangover gets in strop because we havent left to go to london by 10am. get stuck in traffic, dad whinges coz he can hear bros stereo, gets in flap with mum coz she cant use the mobile to phone my aunty were stuck in traffic on the M1, and i just try to sleep and keep out of the way.

see extended family, get abuse for why i havent settled down, found myself a nice young man, gotten married, had babies....lets be honest im gettign on a bit now! (tossers).

getting the train back on the 27th from london to sheffield, back at work in the office on the 28th, plus back at the pub for work on 29th, 30th and 31st. back in office on the 2nd to start the new year.

days off, when!!!!! cant drink christmas day, and my family....well, you wanna swop?

ho ho farking, merry bastard xmas, ho.

and yes, im at work at the mo now.

believe me, the thought has crossed my mind, especially what with the train strikes and that. but bearing in mind i got grilled in september and made to promise i would be home, house move or no house move....i havent really got an option. plus, id miss the only good bit, the wood and the railway on xmas eve.

urm, yeah....and im kind of the one that gave it to everybody else too.

dont hate me, im doing my best- cold pills, echinacea, vitamin c, and more packets of pocket tissues that you can shake a rainforest at.

last year was the first year in about 8 that i didnt have a cold for christmas, i knew it was too good to last.

if you can, keep a window open to keep the air circulating, get some telephone wipes to disinfect everything you touch at you pc, and get the echinacea in you- i hope that will help.

At the same moment I was listening to it at work, guiltily praying nobody turned the radio off.

I, as usual, am going to come down firmly on the side of the Cookster. You can stick your over hyped, false jollity, nonesense up a reindeers bum.

No problem with a pagan mid winter festival, especially if it had a load of drinking and revelling attached, problem is it also comes with an overbearing cloak of commercialised nonesense that totally pollutes the message of goodwill etc'.

People getting themselves up to their nipples in debt, and sending themselves into delirium with the stress of it all! No surprise that Samaritans phone will be ringing off the hook. Samaritans, just some of the many folk who have to work the "holiday" so that the rest of us can gorge ourselves, with mountains of grub and swill, and then have someone to pick up the pieces when we end up in casualty, or worse!

An economy, that now, so depends on this annual orgy, that rumours of a quiet Xmas has the City fat cats panicking.

What is the carbon footprint of Christmas?

Bah! Humbug!

Ah! that's better ...
Actually don't mind it too much, but it has got way, way, out of control, and the more we force ourselves to enjoy the whole experience.... It's like most things you look forward to, the more you convince yourself it is going to be fantastic, the more likely it is to dissappoint. That is why impromptu parties are always better than New Years Eve!

Oh, Yes! Fairytale of New York, Bing, virtually any 50's Xmas song!

Now Scrooged- that's a good film!
Agreed!

Dickens could always tell a tale, and he had a pretty shrewd view on the world, the true spirit of xmas? ;)

Talking of which ... Oliver tonight ... could be interesting! It will have to go some to beat Mrs Bart's version, or David Lean's 1948 version for that matter...

See that's how I like my Xmas, unending misery, poverty, brutality, the odd death, but all with a happy ending ... just like life!
