Any thoughts on this one guys...
A customer has AOL (or AO Hell as I prefer to call it), and if I connect their router (via ethernet) into my laptop it works instantly - full internet access.
On their desktop machine it comes up limited connectivity. I can access the router settings page but not the internet.
When his tower comes back to mine, I connect it to my own network (via the same Ethernet port) and it comes straight on!!
Back to his and we had a connection for all of 3 minutes then limited again. Limited at every boot up since. Back to mine and it works every flaming time.
Now, his PC is quite past it anyway, DVD writer is dead, hard drive is sticking and takes FOREVER to boot up etc. He's quite happy to have the whole thing re-gutted (basically a new build) but the network issue is so annoying that I don't want to continue with a new build only to find that there's something more sinister to his router!!!
Last things... DHCP is enabled all around, TCP-IP settings are all on automatic IP address etc. My laptop got assigned an IP automatically when connected to his router. His tower got IP automatically at mine etc etc etc.
WORK THIS ONE OUT!!!!!
