I can't get my head round anyone thinking a tax on tampons is morally correct
It doesn't have to be moral, just legal.I can't get my head round anyone thinking a tax on tampons is morally correct

I understand that pads are subject to 5% VAT.As far as I know, VAT is charged on tampons, but not on pads, because "they" think that pads are a necessity, but tampons are a luxury.
So the Government definition of luxury is shoving a wad of cotton up your James Blunt.
I believe that that may be a red herring - does shaving equipment and materials, male or female, not actually attract the full 20% VAT?
Women just have no idea how we suffer from squeaky beards. It does & quite rightly so for such a decadent luxury item. On the other hand I might need to start a campaign to get VAT removed from genuinely essential items such as beard oil...
