Your Stafford "Wish List"

Just reading on another thread that someone thinks that Stafford really NEEDS a Burger King instead another supermarket, or Morrisons specifically. Each to their own. (Although I do prefer BK to Mcdonalds).

So, my preference for the town centre would first and foremost be a Dept Store. I would love John Lewis, House of Fraser or Debenhams.

Then I would like the little back lanes to be full of an eclectic mix of independant shops, little cafes, restaurants, delis, bits and bobs, browsing type shops.

I would also like to see more upmarket brands.

Before the grumpy people start moaning about our council and how it will never happen....this is a WISH LIST...not a reality list.

Anyway, lets think positive ...what would YOU like for Stafford?

All of those things you've mentioned, plus a fantastic community / venue space. Maybe the old old library could be reused for this.

Enjoying a drop of red.
Top of my list would be;

a) No more bloody roadworks
b) Sorting out the traffic light timings to give our roads a more free flowing and less stop start nature.

Both the above would contribute to a reduction in pollution, making our town and surroundings a better place in which to live.

Destroy McDonalds.- this in itself would be manna for many.

In doing so make a piazza between the High House and Thorntons, backing on to the chancel window of St Mary's.

@darben knows it - you knows it too.

No double yellow lines, anywhere, give traffic enforcement officers the leave to use common sense. If someone's parked like a dick give them a ticket.
The most useless use of a vehicle is driving around in circles looking for somewhere to park it.
A branch of Hooters.

My needs are simple, a zebra crossing on the bit of Tixal Rd between Cull Ave and st. Thomas Street (and another on Cull avenue if I was being spoilt)

I have considered guerrilla painting one on - I suspect it would work too
You could just cross Tixall Road after Cull Avenue and be on the right side of Cull Avenue - or go down to the secret steps* and emerge into Coton Avenue, slightly longer, but much pleasanter.

* go up this path, here.

Not with a pushchair thanks - and I'm not keen to add much more to my daily foot commute!

ooh, i'd love a debenhams.. a proper one, like in brum, with plenty of homewares..

burger king, natch.. not nando's - i really don't "get" nando's; it's just kfc but slightly more upmarket..

i'd love an apple store, but that's obviously never going to happen!

Replace all zebra crossings with an underpass, much safer than hoping traffic will stop at a red light and will serve as nuclear bunkers after Corbyn gets in.

Stafford had three underpasses - two have been filled it, only the Waggon & Horses one is left 'functional'.
