Mundane facts about your day: Part Deux.

Impressive showers here today - first one appeared very suddenly - instant pressure washer stuff - I was trapped in the Greenhouse, it wasn't worth even attempting the few feet to the Shed. About eight more of them arrived later, evenly spaced through the day. Anybody working out in the open will have noticed them, I'm sure, and might mention it, if I manage to survive the journey to the pub later.

There looks to be one big shower left upwind, but that 'should' track north of here - after that, it's just small ones (at this stage in their development). The outbound westward journey is 80% of the risk - if I get there OK, then setting out back in the dry, with the wind behind me, should get me here before anything catches up...

'My' new drain proved its worth - I would definitely be shovelling gravel off the lawn, if it wasn't there.
My younger sister is currently living the very expensive life in Galway, she text me earlier, says the winds they've had there today, have been awful, apparently sumat to do with some tropical storm.
On the other hand, she reckons the locals are some of the loveliest folk she's ever met. Her new knobheadwankstainwasteofspaceshitforbrains is enjoying the Guinness and she herself is loving the locally produced cider.

It has been blustery - 63% wind electricity over the last 24 hours, though.

Apparently , so I was told, the cheques are now scanned over to the clearance place (or whatever it's called) and lots are being rejected because they are too feint, signature goes over the line etc.
I'd taken a photo of the cheque before I handed it over to the bank teller , incase of any problems (Because me being me, nothing ever goes straight forwards, through other peoples incompetence  ). Showed her the photo of it today and she couldn't see anything wrong with it, as well as building society not being able to see anything wrong with the copy they received back.

Just glad I didn't tear my passbook up in my midnight paperwork decluttering frenzy !
I realised that cheques are scanned now as the money' is transferred almost instantly instead of clearing taking a few days but i didn't know of "lots are being rejected because they are too feint, signature goes over the line etc."

I felt confident that a building society cheque would clear with no probs , as needed it to pay straight out once cleared.. bit of a shocker this morning ( especially after a scam call yesterday which I luckily refused to divulge any passwords& account details. ).

Anywhere in Stafford that I can take a Dyson to for a repair? Just needs a new plastic ring in the bin but I can only order the entire bin from Dyson

Not much use to you now I know but when you change your Dyson, get a Gtech. Every part imaginable is available for next day delivery online if you have a problem, right down to the nuts and bolts.

Really had to bite my tongue today.

Following a massive clearout of our garage we had a number of IKEA komplement write mesh drawers (with the plastic runners for them to sit on) similar to these

I was going to put them on Facebook market place but thought I'd donate them to Katharine house big shop up by the recycling centre.

Got there to be met by an elderly make member of staff.

"What are these ? " Pointing to the runners...
"They go with the mesh drawers as they go in ikea furniture (pax wardrobes)" I replied...
"Oh we're not interested in those but well happily take the mesh baskets"

I was staggered.... What's the point of running a charity shop if you're not willing to listen to the people who are dropping stuff off in order to maximize your returns???

Rant over!!!

Damn, I'd have had them!

Edit: I don't even take them stuff now after a few downright rude encounters,

I don't take them stuff after they turned their noses up at good furniture and items when I was clearing my parents house out. "We've got enough of those in already" .
The Heart charity was also very picky as they went around the house and refused the table & chairs as "Too big" . Then next week another team from the same charity came around to look at other stuff and asked if I was getting rid of the same table & chairs as they would be pleased to have them!

Sounds very “can’t be bothered to carry them”

Its very much a case that you "have to speculate to accumulate". Not so much nowadays but in the case of films and console games they sold, a quick check on the CEX website would tell you what something is worth and would tell you that they didn't have a clue what they had on their hands....

Noticed this morning hair loss has started to kick in from the chemo. :( This has come as a bit of a shock, didn't think it would come that quickly. So I'm going to get my Yul Brynner moment it would appear. I've cheered myself up a bit by going online and ordering a hat, in order to turn it into a Raylan Givens moment.
Even so after 50 years as a 'long haired yobbo' it's going to be a bit of a wrench. I'm bloody dreading next weeks chemo session.
SHIT !!! 😔

You could always just pinch a woolly hat off some poor chap quietly enjoying a pint and go for the full Norwegian sailor look..?

I actually got a free woolly bobble hat in the chemo charity box but ..... it just isn't as cool as a Raylan Givens hat. :P
When I lived just down the road from the scene of the famous Norwegian sailor incident, I was listening to the police radio one night and heard a suspect being described as "wearing a bobble hat, without a bobble" - it's still funny now.

I used to call my 'bobble hat without a bobble' my Charlie Bronson hat. (From the film 'Hard Times.') Strangely I never got mistook for Charles Bronson.
