Christmas 2022.

Enjoying a drop of red.
I always cook Christmas lunch, love it. This year I'll be cooking for 7 plus two dogs. Normally we have chicken as nobody likes turkey but this year we've settled on having a gammon joint with the usual trimmings.

Boxing Day, jr and his 'friend' are cooking us pheasant so that should be interesting.

I'd rather have chicken as well. Might even get a pork joint, son is up for those also. Hubby likes to be traditional and have turkey.

Xmas day was saved once by the tiniest chicken from Bridle Road butchers

We were supposed to be going to a Torquay hotel for the festive period, so our cupboards were bare.
Took spotty son to GP surgery just before setting off when Hubby broke up from work on xmas eve ( suspecting to say just an allergy)
Resulted in " Chicken Pox!"
"Oh , but were going on holiday"
" Afraid you're not , you wont be very popular"

(Luckily the hotel let us move the booking to Easter instead so lost no money)

Called into Bridle Rd butchers on way back from Docs. They were just packing up , but just had a tiny chicken left.

Had no other food in , but that little chicken was most enjoyed by us all, especially
our dog 🙂

We will be out of the country, and the Christmas celebration will be on Christmas Eve. The OH is very concerned about getting turkey on Christmas Eve.

One year Mrs Noah (in her pre Mrs Noah days) ended up cooking turkey, beef, rack of lamb, chicken, venison, a vegetarian dish & something I can't remember because everyone wanted something different. It never happened again.

I'll only be choosing one of the favourites.

Just wont ask sons Portuguese girlfriend what she fancies....apparently they traditionally have salted cod , boiled egg & cabbage on xmas eve & left overs served up Xmas day. Might forget the idea of winging ourselves an invite to her parents in Cascais next Christmas 😂

I need to restock on xmas cake...already eaten 3 M& S slabs & 2 Home bargain slabs (half the price of M& S & ones we bought were just as good)

I might have a bowl of cold gruel as I sit by the window with my stinger missile waiting for Santa.
Might be some venison up for grabs on Boxing Day !

:P
If I lived by myself, I'd probably just have beans on toast. No way i'd be going to all the trouble of a full roast just for me.

I was thinking tonight after enjoying the Tesco garlic kievs I'd bunged in the oven to go with the mash & baked beans , I'd prefer that as Xmas Dinner and so much easier. Maybe peas rather than beans though on the big day...

I haven’t done a Christmas roast for a few years , past few years I just went to Iceland and brought one of each of the the frozen buffets boxes 😂. Doing an actual Christmas dinner this year though , as requested by OH. There’s only the four of us, but we all like different meat so I’ll be doing beef, Turkey, chicken and gammon. They going to be eat leftovers for a few days 😂

Sort of thing Mrs T would do.
