Meeting up with the numerous spindly long legged resident spiders again whilst reading the meter today , wondered whether they can actually damage anything in the electric box????? I keep evicting them onto the bush outside , but they somehow manage to get back in again.

If they do be very afraid, because that means you have some mutant breed with a metal exoskeleton

Looking at the prices for AFDD… yeah that’s gonna go down like a lead balloon as it’ll just end up being that cowboys not following the regs will get the jobs because good Sparks that follow them will be too expensive

wylex do a combined AFDD/rcbo which is a step forward. But they are £110 per breaker

Always dreaded that M5/M6 junction area even though I was mostly travelling at night. Sometimes I'd get off at Junction 2 on the M5 and cut through Tividale and Wednesbury to get the M6 at Junction 10 just for a break, and to avoid the madness. :|

Son lives about a minutes drive from that Worcester North junction. I've got the A449 route (sort of) sussed out in my head, ready for if the motorway is ever closed from both Worcester junctions. With my navigating though, I'm better sitting it out in a motorway queue (most times , except for once sitting trapped for 2 hours at the M5/6 junction because of an accident ahead ) than doing a massive detour when getting lost .

I dread it when the overnight closures divert me off the M5 further down , the diversion signs are none existant , and my sat nav is just shouting at me to get back on the motorway where I've just been kicked off. Ended up heading towards Wales ( found out looking up place names I'd gone through on the map the next day when I finally got home) late one night after getting diverted off, rather than north-bound. Wasn't too worried though , with a tank full of petrol and hubby not even realising I was missing as he was working away in Germany , I decided if I reached the seaside I'd book into a hotel

I did that once on an overnight trip (pre-satnav days) and ended up in Newport !!! .... having passed through a dark place with a huge fiery mountain. It was called Mordor !! :P

Whilst not really looking for a new job I spotted one that was too good to miss last week, interviewed at their midlands office the next day and found out this morning I got through to round 2!!!!

I really really want this job......second interview is a trans continental zoom call with the CEO and one of the directors. I have never done a video link interview before, I avoid situations such as this wherever possible, striving to be person behind the camera at all times, I'm so totally out of my comfort zone that I'm sure I'm going to mess this up.

Just had the dregs of sons sambuca in the pub , to see what it tastes like.....night nurse
Have you tried the black sambuca ?, the flavor is dominated by witch elder bush and licorice, it has a higher alcohol content than most anisettes, yet less sugary taste.

Nan was taken to Stafford Hospital yesterday because she had a bad fall. She was aggressive and violent because she has advanced dementia and blows to the head always increase that. They got frustrated with her, gave her a strong sedative and sent her back to the care home unresponsive and without a release form or even the clothes she arrived in. The ambulance drivers said they were shocked with how she was being treated.

When she woke up she was in agonising pain and unable to move, also had a split lip and bruises all over her face that we can't account for so they called for the ambulance again... and Stafford Hospital refused to take her! They said it was the responsibility of the care home - a place with limited medical facilities - to look after her, which made the manager furious. Nan had to be taken out of town to Stoke Hospital overnight instead.

I have great sympathy for those who have to deal with patients like my nan, btw. Dementia is awful and she was always such a kind and gentle woman before. One nurse received a damage tooth in the process of helping her and I feel awful for them. But how can a hospital refuse care for a dementia patient with significant head trauma??

That's really sad. I hope Stoke Hospital is better equipped and managed to deal with patients such as your nan and that they can give her the care and dignity which she deserves.

Thanks, yeah, she's had to go to Stoke during the pandemic whenever she's had a fall (Stafford was unavailable) and they usually are equipped to look after her as far as I know.

I understand totally how disruptive a patient with advanced dementia must be but they must have protocol and it's totally inappropriate to treat her like somebody of a well mind who is being abusive.

She's 97, I should add.

After ordering a barbecue from a major supplier of household appliances at the beginning of April and a few days later having the delivery date amended and then being told they hadn't got the colour we wanted we settled for another colour. Last week I had an email advising that the delivery date was being put back to the end of May so we decided to look elsewhere.
Ordered one ftom a company in Ireland last Thursday in the colour we originally wanted, was told they would try to have it with us on Wednesday this week, nipped out for an hour earlier today and came back to find it on my drive. The Irish company did free delivery too, the other company would have charged £20.

Can you share names so we know who to use and who to avoid?
