There are still things about this new forum what annoys me - he said, she said...
You had simply missed a QUOTE tag out after one of Rikki's quote; something which would have broken the old Forum completely, but here it lets it through, albeit slightly misformatted. :)

I cant get the hang of quoting and insert replies so it looks right either.
It's really easy once you get the hang of it. See this post in the FAQ for details:

Replying and quoting messages on Stafford Forum.

The law is changing so that the governing body Hetas (solid fuel assoc of years ago) are regulating sweeping and it's members.
Anyone can push a brush up a chimney causing untold damage, and not understanding the route of the problem. To qualify you must have a 003 cert, and have passed competency with an approved assoc, Nacs, Guild or Apics.
I do not wish to have a pissing match, I only signed up to try and point out some of the rogue idiots out there ripping local people off.
I suggest as a gas engineer you follow the law closely as you must insist on a proper sweep for all flues before carrying out any work. If you do not CYA then you may find yourself in serious hot water if anyone got hurt.
As far as the other posted interjected, I have no interest in arguments, just facts and serving the community.
I do not like the way that my prices are questioned, makes me believe their is an alterior motive...
I do not ask you to compare gas and plumbing costs because I do not understand them, I would hope in future you would give me the respect to do mine.
A sweep often takes several hours, it is not a 30 minute job. I would suggest if there are people out there doing that, they really are not cleaning and servicing the flue, and I am not prepared to do this.
My business is based around honesty and integrity and doing a proper job. I am never prepared to leave a job half done, or incomplete as this could one day pose a serious potential health issue for my clients.
I would ask all people in Stafford to think carefully about their fireplaces, these are potentially hazardous areas if mishandled, and from my experience, there are several individuals who are unqualified and incompetent.
It will not effect my business in the long run, in fact more and more people insist on a proper proffesional Job as there homes and families are worth it.
I just ask individuals to take great care
I am not a regularly forum user, I just felt incensed by locals ripping off and endangering there fellow staffordians lives!
Not sure there is much more to be said on this"..........
Sweep dreams to all

I might have thought about using you, but your spamming of the forum is rather annoying...

In fairness, if someone needed a plumber, I would recommend Rikki.
And if someone wanted to learn an awful lot about HETAS, I would recommend Sooty. ;)

Please take the following in the way it is intended; I know it is easy to misconstrue/misinterpret the tone of something when it's written down instead of said to one's face, so please understand that this is just friendly advice to help you get as much out of The Forum as you can. :)

There are many Forumites who have generated a tremendous amount of business (Rikki, Pie & Ale, and wmrcomputers spring to mind) simply by getting stuck in and joining in with The Forum as a proper Forumite, and not just posting adverts and slating other businesses. I fully appreciate your warning about 'rogue sweepers', as I'm sure many others do, but please be careful about posting too much about the same subject, and try to remain unbiased towards your competitors. Let the quality of your work speak for itself.

There are no ulterior motives here, just people reacting to what could be seen as a hostile post and a bit too much spam. Don't worry though; I have tidied up the latter for you, so I'm sure if everyone has a little breather and you just take a leaf out of the book of other Forumites, everything will be fine. :)

Don't worry, a lot of people are new to the world of online forums, and we all have to start somewhere! The best thing here is that you have listened to people's concerns and taken it all on-board in good spirits, and it is clear that you meant no harm and are just finding your feet.

You'll find the Forumites are generally a forgiving bunch, so will appreciate your replies. :)

Best of luck!

Can I as to which organisation you belong as I could not find you on the NACS, GoMCS, APICS or ICS sites and HETAS don't have you down as sweeping?

I haven't bothered to check all the sites you list as life is too short but he is registered with HETAS. So that's at least one site you didn't check very well/

"..... and HETAS don't have you down as sweeping."

I guess this is what Simple's referring to (From HETAS) ....

Competencies
  • Service and Maintenance
  • Install twin walled flexible flue liners
  • Install rigid sectional metal flue liners
  • Install Factory Made Metal Chimney
  • Install Dry Appliance

Oh yes, missed that! Well spotted. Nearest registered one to Stafford seems to be in Stone.
