Good idea for a thread! I really wanted to have an FAQ in place when the new Forum went live, but obviously that never happened, so this thread can be used to point out features that people stumble upon, so that others know they are there to be used. :)

It is now much easier to quote more than one person in a single reply. Simply:

1) Click Reply next to the first message you want to reply to
2) Type your response
3) Click Reply on next message you want to include
4) Type your response
5) Repeat steps 3 & 4 until you are finished
6) Click Post Reply button

:)

When you click SHOW UNREAD POSTS it will show you all the new posts you haven't seen, so if you have been away for several hours it will show you all the unread posts that have been made during that time. Just click on the thread title in the resulting list, and it will take you to the first unread post. :)

The link to view all recent threads is: http://www.staffordforum.com/xf/index.php?find-new/threads&recent=1. Alternatively, if you hover your mouse over the right-hand side of the Members tab at the top a little menu will drop down. If you choose Recent Activity from there, it will show you, unsurprisingly, all the recent Forumite activity. :)

It is now possible to 'Upload a File' - using the button next to 'Post Reply' - making it much easier to use one of your own pictures than it was before.

I managed this quite successfully during the test phase, and was about to do one as an example, but it now says that my pictures are 'too large' - what is the limit?

I have had to reduce the limit to 200KB, as we are currently using about 70% of our available space on our host, so if people start uploading 1MB photos straight from their 10MP cameras we will soon hit the wall!

If you wish to display pictures, I would still recommend one of the dedicated photo hosting sites, such as TinyPic, imgur, etc. as they will allow you to upload much bigger pictures, as well as offering options to reduce/scale the size and things like that. :)

If anyone wants to post a picture, simply follow these steps:

1) Go to http://imgur.com/
2) Click the 'Computer' button on the left
3) Choose the picture you want to display
4) Click 'Start Upload'
5) Copy the code labelled "Linked BBCode (message boards)". It will look something like this:

Code:
[URL=http://imgur.com/4kgC8][IMG]http://i.imgur.com/4kgC8.gif[/IMG][/URL]

6) Paste it into a message here.

That's it! When you post the message, your picture will be included, this:

Makes sense.

I can't find whether this has already been covered in the FAQs - is anyone else having trouble linking the forum to facebook? Every time I try I get an 'error has occurred' message.

Can you let me know what it is you are doing when you get this message (i.e. what link you are clicking/which section you are in/etc.) please? Are you signed-in to Facebook when you do it?

Forgive my Luddite tendencies but what does the Facebook integration do?

Also, it appears that I have an inactive member. How do you change the information underneath the Avatar?

I think that Admin has to alter that, but he is usually amenable to suggested changes - and sometimes will do it off his own bat. PM him and see what happens.

On a similar note, I see that we now have the facility to 'Follow' a member. What goes on there? Do we get to find out bank account details, etc.?
