It's decent. A good selection of drinkable real ale and nice food. It also has live entertainment.

It's not my favourite pub in Stafford but it is somewhere that I will pop in to for a few beers and maybe to watch a band.

Three real ales on the handpulls, one of which is Doom Bar isn't ready a good selection.

When I went in today Doom Bar was the only one on so I had a bottle of Davenport's original which wasn't even a pint and cosy 55p more than the proper stuff.

No bottles of white wine only the single serve versions so my friends weren't happy.

And the service is so slow even with hardly anyone else in the pub.

The place is good for live Sports if you get someone behind the bar who is competent to put more than one channel on.

Food is ok'ish but nothing to write home on the Forum about.

Sadly I'm getting more and more disappointed with the place so will probably just use it when I want to watch a live game if I'm not actually there.

I don't class doombar as a decent beer but the davenports are all drinkable. As I said, it won't be my go to place I much prefer the Sun, Shrew, Bird in Hand or Candid but it is somewhere that I will visit occasionally.

I don't class Doom Bar as a beer. I'd be wary of any pub that sells Doom Bar and if it's the only one on, I'd walk straight back out.

I was in the Butlers Bell this lunchtime for the first time since it properly opened.
The nearest handpumps suggested just Doom Bar on but the further ones indicated that and also Davenports Original and Gold.
Three cask beers should be plenty and I thought Britain's best seller and two local ones was a reasonable choice.
My fish, chips and peas for £9.99 was infinitely better than anything I ate there as a Wetherspoons venue.

The Original doesn't taste as good as I've had in other Davenport's pubs and the bottled version is nicer.

The Gold is a good pint but they don't have it on regularly enough and I wouldn't touch Doom Bar.

I've only ben in two of the other new Davenports pubs, in Birmingham and Penkridge.
The bottled version of Original might be too fizzy for me.
I don't mind Doom Bar in those pubs that have a quick enough turnover of it.

May I ask why you dont class Doombar as a beer?
Because I've tried it (quite a long time ago) and, in my opinion, it is the worst excuse for beer I've ever tried.

Clearly there are plenty of people that disagree with my view; either that or they are taken in by the hype.
