oooooooooh goody gumdrops, does this mean that the big scary police men will get ticketed too, for parking like this while enjoying a biscuit with the staff...

Folks just so your aware , Tescos and now Asda have both installed the ANPR (automatic number plate recognition) system in their car parks in Stafford. Go over your two hours and you will receive a nice bill through post for £60
How depressing it all is. Years ago supermarket car parks were free. What a world!!!!

Asda and Tesco car parks are free. They just don't want people staying all day whilst they go off to work so will send you an invoice if you stay over two hours at Asda or three hours at Tesco.

If either of them sent me an invoice, I wouldn't pay it.

And one thing I would like to know. Why is it legal for the DVLA to supply the name and address details of car owners to Tesco or Asda (or whoever they employ to manage the car parks) so they can then send you an invoice for staying longer than the specified time?

I'm pretty damn sure that if I rang up the DVLA for the details of someone parked outside my hour for a few hours so I could try and invoice them, the DVLA would not supply them to me.

It's three hours at ASDA now.

All you need is 'reasonable cause' - http://webarchive.nationalarchives....Vehicle/AdviceOnKeepingYourVehicle/DG_4022066 - and "unauthorised parking on private land – to help landlords or their agents to trace keepers who obstruct access, contravene parking restrictions or trespass on private land" has been regarded as a reasonable cause in the past...

I still doubt they would give me or another member of the public the details. I may be wrong though. My wife says I usually am!

Looks a bit like that but i can already see it isn't that - no scallop shell for one thing.

The preparatory sketches for the birds you can't see in the picture above are worth a visit too.
