Hi,

I noticed a temporary telephone mast has appeared on the Cannock Road. Are they pulling down the mast that is left at the old police hq?

I notice it's not protected by security anymore so maybe switched off.

I saw the mast last night and wondered what was going -- I thought there had been an uproar from the school and old peoples homes and it was rejected........

As the mast on the old HQ will be switched of shortly, a temporary site had to be used, until the Cannock rd and Walton on the Hill sites can be sorted I guess. This is to maintain coverage in the area as the PCC has served the mast companies with a notice to Quit. So I was informed at a local community meeting last night.

I thought it had been rejected as well. Noticed them working on it this morning as I walked past (did try to put it on the forum while I was walking along to actually make use of the mobile data I'm paying for ,and not using...... really must work out this bloody phone! ).
They were doing a crap job of controlling the traffic with the stop & go signs. On stop for ages in the direction cars were actually travelling when there was nothing coming the other way for ages. With room for two cars to pass anyway, most drivers were using their common sense and going anyway as it was perfectly safe to do so.

There has been 2 separate applications on the Cannock Road 1 permitted and 1 Refused. There was also a refused application for 1 at the gateway to Wildwood. This one is supposed to be temporary due to the decommissioning of the HQ mast. I have noticed some cabinets near the bus stop, poss in prep for the mast there.

Spouting nonsense since the day I learned to talk
The mast on the old Police HQ has already been decommissioned according to a story I read in the Express & Star a couple of weeks ago.

Knew it must be temporary, firstly it's ugly as hell and secondly it's running off a generator. Glad I don't live opposite that, getting to sleep at night might be fun with all the noise.

There's a new mast down Baswich Lane as the bus stop near the Holy Trinity church. It's quite a small one, so I had wondered why the wildwood one needed to be so large.

.

Wondered why it was surrounded with sound deadening mats.

There was lots of work on the mast in the old police headquarters going on today. Lots of workmen on the ground surrounding it, lots of ropes attached to it, a workman had climbed almost to the top of it dismantling bits of it, and a lorry with parts being loaded onto it.

Mrs Wildwood is getting patchy coverage on T Mobile tonight - grandad Wildwood on Virgin mobile also suffering. No problems with my o2.

They won't be happy if this is a long term thing..

Virgin uses the T-Mobile signal. I had more of a problem getting a reception from the the best spot in our house on Wildwood, hanging out of the bedroom window , today than usual .

Had a bad signal ever since the new mast on Wildwood was rejected. Pretty sure they have pulled a few plugs on purpose!

I'm no expert but a temporary mast run by a generator that's half the height of the permanent mains powered 100 ft high is never going to be able to provide a powerful enough signal. :( I can see us suffering for a while.
