Chambers in Stafford

I have to say that I went to Chambers for lunch today and got to say I was disappointed. Service was terrible, took forever to get served and then when we did the ordering was long and painstaking.

Food is good and has a varied menu, but the atmosphere is lacking and reading all the local rags I thought the place had been completely refurbished?? It looks like the same old Hogshead but with a few extra pictures and decor but nothing special and that same old draft that wanders through the place.

I won't be going again, The Sun is hundred times better and with cracking beer to boot!

I found the ale to be good - not too fussed with a sparkler on my pint

The rest of jury were on Gin but being foreman I stuck to my usual couple of quarts

I ate out at the Chambers a week ago Friday, Needless to say the place was packed. They seem to have found a good set of customers too, not the usual folk you get out on a friday and saturday night.
My wife and I were served pretty quick at the bar considering they were 3 deep, I had some Purple Moose (Snowdonia Ale) and my wife had a glass of house red.
The menu was pretty extensive, but as a keen meat eater I chose pretty quickly. The manager (Todd) came over to take our order as he had noticed, I quote 'might be a little quicker for yourselves if I came over' as the bar was still in full flow. I had the (still 'gooey') sctoch egg, and my wife had the parfait. Both excellent. The mains came to us leaving enough time to digest what I had just consuming in record time. Steak and ale pie (I ordered chips and not the champ mash) and the wife had the salmon. Again all beautifully cooked. And Proper Chips!
Overall it was a great experiance. Its just what stafford needs, somewhere un assuming, where the ales change, menu is obviously printed daily thus giving the idea of fresh produce.

I will be Back!

My wife and I had luch at the sun, Nice place. Waited a little time for our sandwhiches, and had our coffes served in sugar pots. Not a huge fan of titanic ales, could do with a selection of other brews. (In my humble opinion)

They usually have several others on, take a walk down the bar to the left of the Titanic pumps, or peruse the beer menu on the wall.

Mr Marwood....If you think the Sun is better than Chambers both for food and ale then I would seriously question your judgement old chap. I went to the Sun a few weeks ago for lunch and wasn't impressed at all. Waited ages for sandwich and chips and the staff appeared clueless to me. Sandwick just ok and chips eerrr ??? As for Titanic ales......you can keep all of em'. However I wont spit the dummy out and not give them another chance like you with Chambers
I had a brilliant lunch at Chambers with the duck tortilla wrap and thin fries really tasty washed down with a great pint of Chambers Gold......brill. As for your comment on atmosphere, it is people that make atmosphere and I have no doubt it will happen in time. They have opened in arguably one of the worst months of the year so give them a break.

It is people like you who condem places so quickly that makes Stafford what it is......Totally lacking in decent places ....................Lighten Up for Gods sake

Mom's birthday on Tuesday, so thinking of going to Chambers for a meal.
Anybody know where the meat is procured from ... is it local?

I think, in my humble opinion, Chambers, P&A, The Sun all deserve a thumbs up in bringing this town out of the "scruffy o'gogharty's 2 red bull & vodkas for £2" we were sold, to much disgrace, over the last ten years.

Let's embrace it. If the chips ain't cut just right or your pie isn't a pie but stew with a puff pastry top- f*ck it!! Eat your tea at home. Enjoy it now. If we don't, these pubs will go and we will have f*ck all else in the town centre of any entertainment worth unless you are 22 or under.

I've been drinking at the Greyhound and the Spittle for the past 7-8 years. I've only just started to go "down town" again. Please don't spoil it for me.

Of course, I'm still in the spittle most of the time and I don't think that will change for some years. A change, however, is as good as a rest. I like to have a pint before tea in the Sun on a Fri or Sat and occassionally I take the wife, who doesn't enjoy the spittle darts and motherspride butties. So for her social life at least, please, please support these pubs.
