Went here for the first time this evening with the gf, I had the Steak & Ale pie, she had Mushroom pancake, and a shared side of chips. The food is truly excellent; on a par with The Sun, if not better. I've lived in Stafford for around 18 months and with these two venues opening, it actually means there is some decent pub grub.

My only complaint- it was a bit quiet, there was no atmosphere. More customers and maybe a bit of music in the background? Will Definatley be back for more!
Hi Jimbo, welcome to Stafford Forum. :)

Thanks for the little review!

We thought we'd try this out tonight, (bear in mind I am a really fussy sod) I had the rib eye steak and I think it's probably the nicest one I ever had from a restaurant, it had some herb underneath it (i'm pretty sure it was rosemary but i'm a bit rubbish with recognising herbs) which just gave the flavour a nice edge, and it was cooked just how I like it.

Wasnt over-keen on the chips but i'm not a huge fan of very thick chips anyway. Mr K is not quite as awkward as me and said they were nice. The homemade kids burger was something I'd have been happy to see on MY plate, the only problem was that it had rather a lot of quite big onion chunks through it - something I dont mind but my 4 year old is not a huge fan of so she didnt eat more than a mouthful.

Mr K had a side order of garlic bread he said was nice but probably should have been described as garlic toast. It was quite busy but the noise level was just about right, if there had been any low background music you wouldnt have heard it over the chatter anyway so i didnt notice its absence.

I think we'd definitely go back to try some other stuff off the menu :)

Went for Lunch here today. Had Roast Beef. Very tasty - Beef was cooked to order and came with a huge Yorkshire pud, fresh veg and crispy roast potatoes which was nicely washed down with a pint of there own Chambers Ale.

Service was also spot on too. It's nice to have another pub in town where the food is freshly cooked.

Well went last night for dinner as booked. I went for the Steak and Ale pie on Jimbo's recommendation and it was great. The chips are proper chips and cooked beautifully.

The ales were varied and made my way through 5 different types and felt very happy at the end!

The atmosphere was busy and the place was all but packed I am pleased to say so would advise booking at the weekend based on that one. The toilets incidentally are spotless and nicely done out too...

We had a couple of issues with the service which was addressed with a chat with Geoff the owner who is a very nice bloke and passionate to see his business succeed and to ensure that anyone frequenting the pub has a great time with good food. The service issues I believe happened becauser it was so busy and staff still finding their feet so have no reservations about going back again.

The chef knows what he is doing and the quality is EXCELLENT.

In all a great night so go and support the new venture, you won't be dissapointed.

Ooh....I think I might have to go there for Sunday lunch next week! How much was it? There's no info about roasts on the website.

It's my missus' birthday today so was looking to go out for a meal tonight. I was thinking of maybe trying The Sun, but may try The Chambers now. Have been in The Sun for drinks on several occasions, and it's very nice, but not tried the food yet. Anyone eaten there?

Oh, I'm new on here so "Hello everyone", I'll keep popping back now I've found you!

Hello Graphic Man and welcome from another Newbie!!

Cannot comment on the Sun as have only had a couple of beers in there which were fine but have heard as ever various comments on the food. I can only comment on my experience at Chambers and would recommend it highly..

Have a good one where ever you end up.

I'm not going in to details on that kind of thing here.

Thanks for the warm welcome. I guess I'd better keep a closer eye on my typing!

A warm welcome from me too. I've only had a starter at Chambers so far but given a choice of there or The Sun for a b'day meal I'd definitely go for Chambers. I'm planning on a visit sometime this week to test out a main course cos some of the things on the menu sound lovely!

edit: and welcome to Moby Dick too!

Sorry folks, can't give a review of either the Chambers or The Sun as the good lady wife decided she wanted to go to the Wolsley Arms.

I can say that the Wolsley Arms was very inviting once we got there. Open fires on the go giving it a very cosy feel and a new winter menu. I had a shoulder of lamb which was cooked to perfection, very tender and the meat just fell off the bone. My wife chose a salmon dish that she enjoyed very much. Followed by a dessert of profiteroles to share – as we've had them before we know it's better to share, these profiteroles are huge! Good service too.

Will maybe pop in to the Chambers for lunch one weekend.

Now looking forward to a three-day weekend at Center Parcs. Three days to go and counting...

Hi Graphics Man.

Typing got better....

Love the Wolseley Arms however service is sometimes a bit lengthy....

Sounds like a good night though, nice one. Could do withthe open fire hear this morning!!!

You lucky man going to Centre Parcs. Try to go every year and love the place. Which one you at? Elvedon is our favourite..

Have fun...

Yeah, thought I'd give it a read through before posting this time!

Brrr, I know what you mean. Been grateful of the heated seats in my car the last two mornings. A fire's just not practical on a half hour commute.

Going to Sherwood Forest again. Went for the first time during the summer and had a great time and my two-year-old daughter just loves the slides in the pool. Going with some friends to split the cost this time, gets a little pricey during the school holidays.

Log fire in the apartment too. That'll be getting a fair bit of use!
