Had a lovely Christmas dinner prepared by Terry and the crew at the Bird today.

Bee made it there for the first time since last Christmas and they all made a big fuss of her.

She had a treat from Beck's for starters, this from Terry for main course and a large bone shaped biscuit for pudding from Emma.

She also managed to spill the contents of her water bowl over the seat so I'm just hoping they believe it and don't think that I'd had an accident 🤣
I remember Oscar, a boxer, being the pub dog when Ron and Sharon Wilson kept the Bird in Hand.

Christmas Day started nicely, then after a text from my Brother warning me of problems at my parents. It started to lose it's shine. Subsequent calls to and from parents house, relegated all xmassy feelings null and void to be replaced with sadness, guilt and a nasty, shameful hint of resentment. OH is now a bit grumpy about it and urging me to not answer the phone or look at the texts each time, but how can I? They are my parents and Mom isn't doing it deliberately.
Things have come to a head and we've kind of had to force Mom to confront the truth that she can't care for Dad anymore. He needs more than she can humanly give and it's not safe for him. Soon as everywhere returns from the festive break other arrangements are going to have to be made.
That's taken a bit of weight off and maybe I can get back into the spirit? Or It'll be try again next year.

Have just been over Sainsburys, get the usual, Lucozade, cheese and chocolate. They had sumat called present toppers down by the tills. Never seen these things before, if they aren't on sale then I don't look. Has anyone else ever used them?

Christmas was a bit of a flop in our house this year, for future reference a buffet is not less work than a Christmas dinner especially when you also have to prepare a dinner and I spent the day feeling like the maid.

My sister has always had a bit of a chip on her shoulder but was particularly sister like on this visit, snapping at my kids, bossing them about and calling them names. I didn’t see most of what went on as was chained to the dishwasher for hours at a time or I’d have put her straight in a taxi.

Hubby called her last night to to have a chat, he was nice, much nicer than I’d have been but basically said there is a standard of behaviour in our home that doesn’t involve treating me and the kids like crap.

She sent me a rude text that took nothing on board that was said to her and now she’s blocked us all 🙄 says it all really.

Aaaaah..... I'd never seen anything like those before this xmas either. Sons girlfriend wrapped our presents up really nicely with string around , then those little glass baubles with glitter inside attached to the string. I've saved the string and baubles for my next years wrapping attempts!:D

We save everything. The best thing to save is the family labels which saves us all writing the same thing next year. Just stick on the previous years labels. Some of ours are on their 4th outing :)
We've done that as well in the past , but had to buy new ones this year as I had a massive clear out for the house move. Don't go mad on them though ....24 or 36 for a quid or less. I've made my own from old xmas cards as well in the past (when it's just been me, hubby & son ).
Saved the box and filling stuff they bought to make up our hamper as well .....that will be part of sons xmas present next year.
(Very posh ! 😂) Won't have all the clear plastic around it tied with ribbon though like they did .....mine's usually clingfilm holding it all in :D (He will be highly honoured...it's usually an old shoe box covered with xmas paper for any home-made hampers)

That’s just brought back memories of my childhood Christmas’s. I used to dread opening presents because my mum used to want to save the wrapping paper. She would sit there glaring at me. I would have to carefully peel away all the tape from the paper and then carefully fold it up without damaging it . She would get so angry! Luckily I never really got many presents , just a few from family members, good job or I’d still be folding the paper now 🤪

When I were a lad we'd be grateful for a tangerine, a few nuts and a couple of shiny new pennies !

Son was amazed when we said people got an orange , nuts and a piece of coal many moons ago..... he'd never even seen coal , thought I was joking when I said I've saved a lump for years to keep in the house for good luck ......

My mum tried that until one year she realised that the more she banged on about it the more destroyed the wrapping paper got.

What an evil child I was...

I just know i'll put them somewhere ''Safe''. And will probably find them again in 10 years time!

I also never buy the wrapping paper at full price, always go over after Boxing Day and get it when it's cheaper. Got 2 rolls of tartan print this year, they will do for birthday presents too.
