Eek. That's pretty shit if true. Glad my folks got theirs yesterday and not today.

On another note, I've generally avoided Nextdoor as I've heard it's a bit "social politics", is it worth using? I can see how it would have been useful during the pandemic.

You can expect the same as you’d get in local Facebook groups as they’re very much the same people usually dominating both.

Which, from my foray into them… means lots of hysteria about Beaning, myths of weed being giving out to kids on Halloween, and the strange markings on the pavement that are clearly gang markers for who to rob but oddly seem to relate to the water board. Also Skunk. Every smoked drug is Skunk*

* None of this is representative of the Stafford pages, but merely what most local groups devolve into as they grow

A few Tiktok videos of kids throwing the contents of a can of beans at houses has resulted in people thinking there’s an epidemic of it going on
I'm so glad that, apart from this forum, I have no involvement in social media, as it is a giant steaming pile of shite.

If anyone is thinking of going for walk-in at the Kingston centre today , or got appointments for this afternoon, I've just read this on the Nextdoor website.... posted about 1pm today......

'Kingston Centre.
Please note that in-spite of people having appointments for COVID vaccination the Kingston Centre is closed. There is nobody there and there is no notice of closure. People are turning up in droves only to have to go back home. '
Anyone checked its really closed, and not just a covidiot causing trouble?

Sounds like I'd find it as infuriatingly stupid as the couple of times I've poked my head into that "Stafford Tactical Information Group" on FB.

EDIT: I just poked my head in again out of curiosity and it actually seemed broadly fine, I must have just looked on the nights when the more obnoxious/science-denying types were more vocal.

Someone who works there has said the walk-ins at the Kingston Centre was for a limited time , and now appointments only. Says there WEREN'T any appointments booked in for Friday as it was closed.

Confusion on people turning up for walk ins to find it closed maybe after them receiving texts to just turn up like my original one , and my numerous texts since.....

I'm still receiving daily texts telling me to get my booster , even though I had mine in the Kingston walk-in session on 28th Oct. My texts coming through are saying either by booking appts online or through 119 OR walk-in at Kingston Centre. So maybe that's why so many are still turning up to be turned away without an appointment. I even had one yesterday morning urging me to go .

Person working there says loads of appointments available to book for next week when they are open on Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday. And 5000+ booster jabs were delivered there this week.

Good to see loads getting it. I was fine after mine , just a bit of achy arm for few days.

Just brought my mom to have her booster at the Holmcroft centre and it is very busy. They are doing COVID and flu jabs. Very well organised though. Volunteers are doing a terrific job!
I had my flu 65+ jab at Holmcroft centre, in September, this time and was really impressed. If my covid booster had have been due at that time they said they would have whacked one of those in whilst there as well .
