It’s more it’d be a lot easier if I could go through with her, neither of us are terribly fond of the entire process
No doubt

However, the pay off exceeds all of this

If you have no joy as a pairing make the effort to head north

Holmcroft are open tomorrow ( Wednesday) Thursday & Friday but not the weekend. Providing you fit the criteria it would be very unusual for the Jolly Jabbers to refuse you
There is a sign up saying no walk-ins mind plus they check your booking before you go in.
Not that they might not allow this, but just a warning!

Girl I work with is having to isolate for the 6th time. Every member of her family has been ill with this virus, this time it's one of her sons.
One of the nurses has tested positive, luckily I haven't worked with him for a while.
The last time the ward had a big out break, 12 out of 14 patients were struck down, as were 29 out of 35 staff. (not all at the same time I must add)

I can see the whole country getting Omicron, or already had it, before the next month is out. Not really much chance of escaping being exposed to it now.

Son had covid November last year , just before the vaccine jabs started.

Now got it again for the 2nd time ( according to 4 lat flows. Now awaiting todays Pcr results to confirm) despite being double jabbed.

I got covid a while back, a few months after being double jabbed with Pfizer , but hubby escaped it at same time after 2 astra zenecas ..

Me & hubby both had boosters , but son hasn't yet. He went downhill rapidly from xmas day lunchtime ,but put it down to wine & champagne and my massive dinners at the time...

All our daily tests over the 5 days he was here showed negative.

His changed on the Tuesday when he was back for work , from negative before work to positive 8 hours later when he went home early feeling rough. So levels of virus quick to increase.

Mine & hubby's are still showing negative tonight , despite 5 days close contact with him just before he was positive.

Hoping that proves our boosters are doing their job.....

He can't really escape it at work , despite strictly following procedures, as he's in charge of 90+ young staff over various changing shifts, as well as dealings with customers in the store. Loads of staff or their families have tested positive since this bloody covid thing started.

Luckily his symptoms this time aren't as bad as the first time ( when he had either the Kent or delta variant then). So I'm taking that as a good thing !

I'm just banking on it not being so serious resulting in less hospital admissions and deaths. And hopefully once a vast majority have built up immunity the b*rstard virus will die a death

Thankfully it does seem to be the case that cases are spiking but hospitalisations and deaths have only “bumped” a little

In reality if the whole country did get it with minimal fallout, and the recent study is to be believed, that could be our way out as Booster + Omicron basically makes you immortal* so says the aforementioned study

Sons just pointed out that he needed Rennies this last week, which he's never needed before , even since being back home and work( so not all my cooking to blame).

Maybe another sign to look out for??

I'd replaced my outdated ones in my medical box lately as hadn't used them for years.... but needed quite a few this past fortnight since starting with a ' cold' .... :hmm:

I saw on the news that there was a 50% increase on hospitalisations yesterday versus last week

I have two gigs booked for next month, not feeling that confident about them either going ahead or feeling safe enough to go... one is at the very end of the month so *maybe* if it turns out there really is a low threat from Omicron I might go to that one, masked up, but I wouldn't put money on it.

We've decided not to go to the football tonight. FFP2 masks on order for when we do go next week.
I'm going but shall be wearing my mask all the time and catching an early train this afternoon and getting to the ground earlier than usual to hopefully avoid the crush and the maskless wonders.

I'm hoping United are responsible enough to do COVID checks on the gate but somehow I doubt they will.

I don't know how they'll be able to, it'll be absolute chaos. we will go on Monday when we can make sure we get there a bit earlier and hopefully they'll be less pissed up people.

As all tickets are electronic they could ask for proof of vaccinations well in advance and then ask for checks on anyone else who hasn't got proof of jabs.

Those who have been vaccinated could have their tickets authorised in advance and be let straight in as usual whilst the others form an orderly queue (🤣) to be checked.

Yes, I filled in my consent thing the other day, but now I've forwarded my tickets to someone else how does that work? Most people don't even bother with the forwarding system.

Anyway, hopefully we've hit the peak. Be really hard to tell for another week or so given the reporting lags.

I know all of the people on my ticket transfer list are all double jabbed and would only transfer to someone I know has been jabbed but I do understand your point and how the system could be abused.

Currently sitting in a nice empty carriage on the train to Manchester. First part of plan working 😁
Just read that Cross Country trains have another friggin strike day tomorrow and services back to Stafford will be limited i.e. rammed!!!

So if my planned train is cancelled or rammed I shall be jumping on an Avanti to Stoke and a local train back to Stafford instead.
