And if you believe that, you'll probably believe 5 billionaires disappearing at the bottom of the sea was just unfortunate. But that deserves a whole thread of it's own!

Anyone with half a brain could see the thing was not fit for purpose, there's no conspiracy just pure incompetence here. It was illegal to operate in domestic waters which is why they had to be in international wates.

What I DON'T believe is that "they are heroes" and "were trying to take a new step for humanity, to popularise undersea travel, to democratise the ocean floor" - but that's from Britain's biggest serial liar.
It's not even a new thing, that's what's really frustrating about it. A normal every day couple won a competition and got married on the bow of the ship inside a metal tube 20 years ago. People have been going down there for ages now, paying $250k for the privilege in an experimental sub that doesn't meet any regulatory standards is just lunacy. The only new thing here was going down there in a human toothpaste making machine rather than a properly built submersible.

I'm not sure whether i'm actually interested in the fruit-loop version of why...

5 billionaires disappearing at the bottom of the sea WASN'T just unfortunate

... or i'm just interested in how GG can try to explain it while breaking all the laws of English, and logic, at the same time. It's probably, realistically, quite a bit of both.

A crowd of people turned away, but i just had to look, having read the book.

As much as it is something of a distraction, meme-wise it has something to educate and enlighten us with the kind of immediacy rarely encountered with just words -

- and we all feel better for that.

Trying to be clever still doesn't suit you.

Are you going to enlighten us as to the REAL reason why this really shonky vessel, with parts certified to depths that it couldn't really withstand REALLY failed at the depths it wasn't able to reach?

Was it the WHO?

You better you better you bet

Seems they've decided around here it's all over . Aldi till screens taken down today Doctors surgery counter screens taken down the other week. All sanitiser containers empty everywhere.

They've already killed the easy targets, and they're desperate to get us back in the office which can't happen at the same time as any restrictions. Luckily my lot have closed the office so our nearest is now over 50 miles away, and I'll likely not have to visit more than twice a year.

Seems most places around here think it's gone away now. Doctors surgery taken reception screens down. Aldi had got rid of their till screens yesterday and most other places have got rid of any sign of preventative measures and no sanitiser in most places anymore.

One thing I did notice this morning though , people were still keeping their distance queuing at the cashpoint and lots more wearing masks.

Hubby hasn't got an office to go back to anymore, the Stafford one has gone. He just works at home for his German office.

One good thing that came from being set up to work from home for 17 months ( originally supposed to be a couple of weeks until it went away...) at the start of covid is that it proved it was possible.
So when we moved to Worcester they let him work from home again down here . Eventually the Stafford office went at the end of its lease last September and the other remaining 2 UK colleagues now work from home as well.

Same here, it proved the office wasn't relevant to the point that if I was in the office now I'd be on a zoom call all day anyway to someone we hired down south - so whats the point? Also means I can do like I just did and work in Latvia for 10 weeks, I can work anywhere I want as long as I'm willing to keep UK hours (or my teammates are willing to adapt to my hours, which happened on a few occasions).

Funny though that of all firms Zoom have called their workers back in!

In the last two weeks I had a message from my dentist, about my appointment, where they said they were minimising contact. When I went to my GP for a face to face, there was a notice on the checking in screen about if you were waiting for a PCR test, to consult them. I'e noticed people still wearing masks, in public!
I can see more panic once the dark nights come and they can control us a bit more. But that's just opion and I don't need to provide a link!

If you have no or minimal information on the levels of infection because your Government has given up with testing

Then you cannot make an informed choice

Covid, Not being more severe than existing strains is NOT the same as not being severe

Disease is a function of

Virulence
Immunity
Environment

Individual risk scales by prevalence

Vaccinate

Mitigate
