Sanitiser won't do a lot I'm afraid, it's airborne.

Mouthfuls of alcohol, that's the answer.

I am pursuing this technique and it seems to be working so far.

You maybe can't blame her for going in but if I was in that position I would definitely wear a mask and sanitise/wash my hands before touching anything as much as possible. It doesn't sound like she's entirely blameless.
