Crap Towns Returns

Personally I think Stafford deserves inclusion purely because of the horrible ring road gamut of traffic lights that circle the centre that actively put me off going into town if I have to. I've never lived in a place with so many bleedin traffic lights before!

You have to admit there is a Stafford 'look'

Rather poker faced, large conk, negative outlook, wears a lot of black and holds a stare just a fraction of a second too long

We are all related , but not as closely as in Merthyr Tydfil

Town centre is terrible, nightlife terrible and not enough places to eat out, if my job moved I would move with it!

I think we all like to highlight the failings of the place we live and reading the comments on the Guardian website concerning Crap towns what strikes me is how many similar comments are posted across the country.
Whether it is we are unhappy with our lot, have unrealistic expectations or just enjoy a good whinge, it makes you wonder if moving some where else would be any better.
It could be worse. Your job could move to Telford, a soul less new town which seems pleasant enough but is coma inducing.

I too have lived in quite a few places, and I think Stafford is lovely! The only thing I would change is to make Staffordians a bit more friendly :)

To say Stafford has a rubbish nightlife is utter nonsense. If you're expecting Stafford to be like a big city, then you're being foolish.

The live music that takes place every week at pubs like The Grapes, Rose & Crown, Bear & Pheasant, Joxer Brady's, the national and internationally renowned DJ's that Couture and The Post House have put on (including Hed Kandi and Gatecrasher DJ's) is brilliant for a small town.

The live stand-up comedy available in Stafford is, frankly, unrivaled by nearby cities like Stoke and Wolves.

On top of that, The Gatehouse Theatre attracts huge TV stars of comedy, and is committed to local drama groups. The yearly Festivals at the Castle.

It might not be what YOU want to do, but Stafford has a lot of entertainment and culture going on for anybody who wants to leave their sofa or bar stool.

Why do coaches come from around stafford to, stafford for the night life if it was that bad?

To be honest, compared to what is around us, we're brilliant!!

stafford "nightlife" aint amazing, but we're a town.... it's good enough in my opinion

Places to eat out? depends what you're into again quite a few .

Clearly a book that features Stafford as a "crap town" but doesn't feature Walsall isn't even fit to be used as poo paper.

I was about to suggest Walsall as well. Parking restrictions everywhere - if you want to nip into a shop you need to park at the top of a steep hill and pay 20p for 10 minutes parking even though the roads are plenty wide enough for parking bays. Of course, parking wardens circling the town like vultures. Hardly ever see parking wardens in Stafford yet I in Walsall I don't even get chance to put the handbrake on before some parking warden is suddenly peering into my windscreen.
